So the club are threatening to take you to court.

Let me guess...

You didn't actually cancel your season tickets, but instead just cancelled your direct debit with the bank.

If this is the case, you haven't cancelled , you still have an agreement, and still owe the money !

And that is the crux of the matter. Some people think by paying via direct debit you can just stop and you owe the club nothing. The reality is that you have committed to buying a whole season ticket but the club have agreed for you to spread the payments - you are not paying for each months matches, you've agreed to pay for the whole seasons matches.

The club can't run their business not knowing how much money they'll get from season tickets. If they offer unlimited upgrades they cannot plan a thing and would likely lose out.

7 upgrades is more than fair enough if you ask me.

A few points...

1. I have edited the original post slightly, and all quotes of it, in order to protect the OP from himself. The crux of his story is still very much as he first wrote. If you are aware of the edit, please do not refer to it.

2. Gillingham weren't the Archer years, they were the start of the Dick Knight years!

3. The limit is 6 upgrades, not 7.

If it is clear in the the terms & conditions, no sympathy really regardless of how long you have supported the Albion. What is worse about your plight is you have tried to name and shame somebody clearly doing there job, imho is a :nono: :nono:

This. The club essentially lend you the money to buy your season ticket, interest free. If you cancel it, you still need to repay the loan. I'm with the club in this case - allowing 6 upgrades is generous.

Ooo! Now I'm looking to see if I can spot your edit(s). A mildly entertaining diversion... Edit: got it! Application for MI5 duly sent off.

On topic: gotta say that limiting the number of upgrades to 6 a season doesn't seem that unreasonable. The club have to protect themselves from those who would abuse the system if it were an unlimited number. As ever, the fallout is on those who have a genuine need; blame those who abuse the system, not the club.

Here's what you should do, call the club and upgrade the season tickets permanently, then if your kids should want to go downgrade them, I doubt your sons will want to go to seven games btw. Oh and next year don't by your sons a season ticket follow the above procedure, I await your response but am not hopeful that you will!

That won't work because the OP seems to want to pay child rate if the seat is empty for a game ???

As you say it's simple.

Buy 3 adult season tickets. When the children go downgrade them and get the discount. When an adult goes, all good. When a seat is empty, it is being paid for at the correct adult rate.

7 is still quite young top go to football week in week out, not all kids have the attention span at that age.

It's not long until renewal time anyway, just cancel them at the correct time like everybody else does without a fuss!

The way i read the OP is:

I'm such a super fan..

Cant get my own way.

Not a super fan no more.

Well yes, precisely this really. For some people, human nature being what it is, if they don't get what they want, it's always going to be the other persons fault, regardless of the circumstances.

Until the threads this season id hardly been aware upgrades were possible. I had just assumed that like many other tickets season tickets were non transferable

Just to be clear, can you downgrade tickets if, for example, you have a full adult ticket but you take your granddad to a game?

All the lickers believing the club can do no wrong whilst showing little sympathy for a fellow supporter shows just how far we have come since the Amex I guess.

Was the ST policy different in the pre-Amex days though?

If his kids can't go to many matches why not just buy tickets on a match by match basis?

I have supported the Albion for 40 years and I have held at least two season tickets since 1984, with the only break being the Archer years at Gillingham. I have held a season ticket for myself and my twins boys since moving to the Amex; my boys are now aged 7. I had hoped, over the years for my children to attend more and more matches but alas they are not keen. I upgrade my sons tickets when they do not attend and bring guest, some of whom have since become Albion fans. However, this season the club have limited me to 7 upgrades per season and this is a problem as I cannot now use my sons tickets when they do not attend. I approached the club to reconsider this position. I tried to explain to my predicament and they refused to help.In the end I was left with no choice other than to cancel all the tickets and now have the club threatening to take me to court. A sorry tale and I now no longer attend matches and in light of my treatment as a point of principle I will never go again. This is another example of the club being a cumbersome corporate entity with no regard for their real fans and I know other feel like this, if you feel this way too I strongly recommend you let the club know.It is a shame as if we go up and the club find themselves at the wrong end of the table with dwindling crowds, I would have be one of he ones to stick with them; I wonder how many of the new Amex fans would do this?

Why not upgrade the tickets to full adults for the rest of the season ?
