100% certain it was Dean Saunders? I was in the South Stand at the time, but age may have changed my memory!

I think that it was the cup match that was played at Peterborugh, that was on Saturday and Perry Digweed built little snow mounds to pur the ball on to take his goal kicks. Cant remember the year

Firstly that game was in 1986. Secondly it was an evening match. Looks like Oxford circa 1987 to me

It doesn't look like an evening match as there are no shadows cast by floodlights. Looks like a regular Saturday afternoon game to me ...?

Second, in 1987 our home strip was striped shirts, so it has to be earlkier that that.

Agree that it looks like Oxford Utd though.

Can't have been Oxford as they were a top flight team in the mid-80s. And by 1987, we were in Div Three :cry:

Brilliant find, glad I remembered that it was Dean Saunders that had scored.

No idea what the original game you showed was though.

And I love Chris Cattlin!!

Should put my London Pride down as I didnt recognise any of the adverts as being at The Goldstone but then a little brain would have showed that we had to be at home as if we played Posh away we wouldnt have worn blue and white:dunce:

If you look behind the goal on the clip there is an advert for Townsend Thoresen...which probably dates it as no later than about 1988 as I am pretty sure they ceased to exist not long after the Herald of Free Enterprise sank...which was early 87.

The more I look at this clip the more I think the game was probably in early-87, I lived in London at that time and can remember a really cold winter with loads of snow...so, if anyone has their old programmes to hand they can probably work out who the best candidate is for our opponents.

From Jan til May 1987 we were Div 2

Yes, and Oxford were still a top flight club then - up to May 1988, in fact, according to Wikipedia.

I know that they were sponsored by WANG computers. We were sponsored by NOBO. What a great match that would have been :p
