The whole Leeds saga has been done to death on here, but I'd just like to make one further point.
Namely, how disappointing is it to see Leeds fans all over the 6-0-6 boards, and on Swansea City sites, posting messages to the effect that the Jacks haven't won promotion yet, blah blah, the points deduction has still to be ratified, blah blah blah.
Swansea have been, by virtue of the points they've won, by some distance, the best team in League One all season, moreover they've just got back into the second tier of the game for the first time since 1984.
Is it too much to ask that they be allowed to enjoy the celebrations, without having a bunch of mean-spirited, bitter Yorkshiremen attempting to belittle their achievement? This whole sorry shenanigan reveals a lot of sore losers amongst the Leeds United fraternity, a club with a chip on its shoulder so large, Norris McWhirter is en route with the tape measure as I write.
Stop being suckered in by all the Ken Bates bullshit, Leeds fans, and give Swansea the credit they've earned.

As far as I'm aware, the arbitration panel cannot force the Football League to do anything: they can only recommend. Therefore the FL, by following the advice and reducing the punishment, would surely be admitting they have done wrong, which I can't see them doing (good).
Thinking from the other side of things: even if they did reduce the punishment, I can't believe that they would do anything that would impact dramatically on current League One standings.
Say they gave them enough points back to get into the top two: I'd guess that the likes of Carlisle and Doncaster would then take legal advice themselves. So to do that would stir up a massive hornets' nest. Does anyone think the FL would put themselves in that position? It would turn the competition into a total fiasco.
Leave things be- Leeds will make the play offs anyway, so they can carry on deluding themselves about the unfairness of it all as far as the rest of League One is concerned.

What's the softest option? Leave things as they are. That's what the decision will be. Leeds are already in their play-off spot. Through merit. Reckon nobody's going to rock that particular boat.

It was pointed out to me by an Ex BHA player that in his opinion the FL will not admit they were wrong and give back points and eithet a gauranteed play off place or possibly promotion when they sit on Wednesday. If anything they may give them some points back to start next season with, that is the best they can hope for. This is only his opinion but I trend to agree when I thibnk about handing them promotion possibly at this stage of the season. Had they been going to give back points this season would probably have done so in January or February.

Some points back to start next season with? They are not going to give Leeds a headstart next season, the legal backlash from every other club in whatever division Leeds are in will be huge.
If this does happen you may as well throw away the rule book and give up.
If Leeds are given any points back it has to be included in this seasons points tally otherwise you are not only rewarding Leeds for being corrupt and breaking FL rules, you are penalising every other team for not breaking those rules.
you guys, while raising very valid points about parts of this case are being far simplistic. brian mawhinney has dropped a variety of bollocks starting from last summer right up to when they sent some documents to leeds late last weekend. ranging from the advice he gave to his fl rep at the original cva vote to the fact he did not and would not sit down last august/sept/oct and on and on to resolve this, to the fact that since this happened there has not been a full member vote to cover what happened last summer for the future (it would not get passed, that is why it has not happened)
