I looked at the mileage if we stay in League One and presuming that Brentford, Exeter, Gillingham and Wycombe come up and Carlisle, Crewe, Cheltenham, Hereford go down with Leicester, Peterboro and Leeds going up.

In that scenario, Albion fans (and players) (leaving from Brighton) will save 5,980 miles of travel next year if attending all away games in League One vs. dropping to League Two.

At an average of 700 per away day, that is 4,186,000 miles saved.

Just another reason for us to stay up. I am going back to bed now and sleep.

Hmmm, but even if I was a Carlisle fan, I'd still rather go to Norwich, Charlton and Southampton than Morecambe, Accrington and Bury.

I genuinely can't believe Carlisle this season, what on earth happened to them? They were a great side last season, Graham was banging in the goals. I suppose Kieran Westwood in goal has been a big loss, but in general, they've added to the side. I find it remarkable they're going down.

I don't think they'll miss playing all us southerners though, really. They'll have far bigger support at Accrington and Burton, and cheaper travel for the fans too. Obviously they'll be disappointed, but there you go. Football goes in cycles, they'll recover.

Not sure but if that is the case they would have to pay for us to get up there even if they don't have to pay to get down to the south coast. They would still be spending money on one of the journeys.

I think this only happens when a match is postponed at the last minute. The home club has to pay for accomodation and travel costs either for the original fixture or the rearranged date , which is mutually agreed between the two clubs.

I tipped Carlisle, Brighton and Northampton all to finish in the top 6 this season.

Utterly selfishly, I'm hoping for the following results on Saturday:

wins for the Albion, Bury, Carlisle and Norwich;
defeats for Exeter, Northampton, Crewe, Barnsley and Tranmere;

and then unsuccessful play-off campaigns for Leeds and Scunthorpe and a successful campaign for Rochdale.
