..had its 3rd Round in December was it anything to do with Dec 31st being a Bank Holiday that year ??

Not sure if it was this one, but I do recall an FA Cup that ran early (and possibly finished before the end of the league season) due to the Summer's International tournament starting quite early.

Think that might have been 2002 due to the rainy season in Korea / Japan.

01-02 season ran early, as it finished on april 20th

dont remember the fa cup one though - could if ot been to avoid a clash with the world club cup after man united pulling out the year earlier?

was that not when they were trying to ease fixture congestion? an experiment they wanted to make permanent.

the whole lucky losers/scum in world club championships was that season as well i think.

yeah it was definatley lucky loser year Darlo I think.............maybe it was to ease fixture congestion
