I have been adviced to replace the cam belt by my local garage but they don't do them as it requires some specialist equipment...

Any suggestions of where to go and what it should cost for a 2010 Astra

No idea where but don't skimp on changing the water pump at the same time. It'll save you a busted engine! Most of the cost is labour..... Between £200 and £400 so do look around.

Daughter had her’s, Plus water pump replaced for a Fiat 500 £240. Not sure what the cost for an Astra? This is a Worthing based Mechanic. Not sure where you’re based.

Had a cam follower go on a vauxhall that did a similar job. Expensive if one goes and worth the investment in a new belt and pump.

Think i paid £180 for mine to be replaced. That's the full kit but my car is a C3. Woulkdn't pay much more than that for an Astra. It's who you know.

its down to how much of a pig to get to the belt for refiting and adjusting. example, the Fiat Coupe are notorious, need to remove or drop the engine to do properly, so several hours rather than one that other engines might take.

Yes! what this guy said! ^

You can’t just say the change interval for an Astra is 10 years or xx amount of miles as it is quite literally different for every single engine code.
The cost varies not only from garage to garage but mostly based on how easy the cam belt is to replace on each individual engine, and their accessibility
