My Dom was saying today that in April they will propose 7am starts and look to reduce the walks yet again....

I think it might be time to jump ship....

We didn't get that, but ours suggested we make the most of job & finish.

not again jeez. Mt postman deserves sacking as it is, he barely gets my 1st post to me before midday and often we get the next doors. Proper useless !
What do you mean 1st post ??
there is only one:rolleyes:
Its not the postmans fault if Royal Mail dont let them start their delivery till after 9am .
If Royal Mail get their way you wont get your mail till 2 hours later.
Dont listen to the spin, its the Postman that want to keep the delivery the same and thats partly why they are striking.
Its not about pay as they ( Royal Mail)want you to believe

At my delivery office we have had 4 full time people postman leave during the past 8 weeks and Royal Mail wont recruit anyone else or make any Part timers up to fulltime.
We have postman still delivering post after 7.30 PM on docket(overtime) to get the mail out and all they get is abuse.
No wonder they are leaving in droves.
perhaps thats what Royal Mail want.
Can see housewives delivering 2 streets each soon.

And when that happens, everyone will be up in arms.

But hey guess what.........

......it will be too late by then.

Companies will allways use spin during industrial action but in reality you'd be hard pushed to find workers who are willing to strike purely over pay, there's usualy more serious underlying issues involved. I say good luck to the posties and whatever the outcome you've got my backing.

You ain't see nothing yet matey! your post will probably arrive around teatime if Royal ( ive lost the plot completely) Mail has anything to do with it!

I think everyone who has critised the Post (maybe with justification in some cases) are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think more choice in the postal service will improve Qof S.........................little prediction from a humble Postie...........IT WILL NOT!!!!!!!! The service as we know it will change forever and for what..........to satisfy a few ideoligists who think The Post Office needs competition to improve the service and bring a National institution into the public sector. Oh how those very same people will yearn to turn back the clock to a business that at one point flirted with 95% efficiency.
Our office at one point started at 4.30 a.m and recieved all our live mail at that time.............even then with deliveries commencing at 7 ish clients wanted their mail earlier..(Business mail delivered by or before 9) How will buisiness react to a delivery at about 12-1?.....and who will have to bear the brunt of this "improved service"? Yes yours truly.....thats if we still have a job or have not elected to leave. We have several personnal contemplating life outside RM because things have gone too far or simply cannot adapt to the new working hours because of childcare arrangements and other commitments!!
No sorry..........call for improvements but Royal Mail is railroading (apt eh) these ludicrous changes that will cost jobs, cut wages, put pensions at risk, reduce efficiency and still not satisfy the public............Have The Royal Mail and the dammed Regulator a Death wish for a much loved institution?

We have found the post service getting better as our postie even rings us on his mobile to tell us we have a recorded delivery and what time would we like him to come back!!

If the threat of competition is producing these results then may the battle commence!

:bigwave:

Competition wont be on a level playing field . Other companies wanting to deliver the mail want to cherry pick the profitable towns and cities and serve only the businesses in that area. Some companies will only presort bulk mail and then hand it over to RM to do the actual delivery. The postal service is going to be run down in a similar way to other industries which are now in decline. How many underground working coal mines are left in Britain ? Answer, 4. When was the last time you saw a milk float delivering pintas to the doorstep ? How often do you get through to a call centre in India ? Where will you go when they have closed another 2500 post offices ? Answer, Join a very long queue in WHSmith if your town has one.

I just don't know what to do about this.
I'm seriously going down the route of pooh happens I might as well start making it work, for me.

Plus the fact losing best part of a weeks wages, is going to be tough, although the wife did say 'cool, lets go away'.

Totally agree, deeply unhappy about it, but as with 6:15 starts if that's what management want to do in the end, they can.

Not helped by our rep this week, who so far has tried to get a new guy sacked for not doing his households, his only input in WTL was to request his own EVR (don't you love TLA's) and laugh when he realised Wed's would be heavy & his day off. (admittedly I joined in with that, cos it was mine too).
