We have call divert set up. Im confused with the costs. Does anyone have this set up and can explain. Trying to get through to BT is a joke.

When someone calls the home number and they get diverted to my mobile, do I pay just for the transfer to my mobile, or do I pay for the complete call?

normally pay for the complete duration of the call from landline->mobile at a rate as if you were calling a mobile from said landline.

We get told off at work for diverting our desk phones to mobiles for long periods of time because of the cost.

It's bloody expensive and you can't control the costs cos it out of your hands who rings your home phone

I used to do this for work, advertise my home phone as the landline then divert it. But I ended up with large bills as I'd have to pay for all the double glazing twat's calls being diverted to my mobile

I think it would help enormously if you got some kind of indicator on your mobile as to whether the caller was calling your mobile or it was a diverted call. Then you could know to end the diverted calls quickly and call them back (not the double glazing twats obv!) using your inclusive minutes

If you have inclusive daytime calls on your landline, i believe the diverted calls fall outside of the price plan so you end up paying per minute anyway!

Bugger. They told me in at the call centre that I only pay for the cost of the transfer then the customer pays the reminder.

I wonder if Skype would do the trick? I dont know much about Skype.
Is just a case of installing Skype getting a headset and then you can chat over the web?

I only take calls from one person.

If it worked like that it would be completely unfair on the caller. They'd ring your landline expecting to pay the appropriate charge, but then get hit with a calling to mobile charge.

What you were told at the call centre is correct , they have explained it back to front - the person calling you pays for their leg of the call (calling your landline) you pay the supplement for the call being diverted to your mobile (call charged from your landline to the number it is being transferred to). BT did have a recording saying "your call is being diverted at no extra cost to you" but dropped it after negative responses in marketing surveys.

Is it easy enough to do this? We used to divert our number to a call centre at the end of the day in my old job but i presumed it was something we had set up already? Something to do with '*# blah blah blah' isn't it?
