Anyone got any idea's what websites to look for? I haven't got a clue, to be honest. But I know there are some out there...

Looking at booking train tickets from Amsterdam to Enschede.

Cheers.

I used ns.nl when I lived in the Netherlands...if you need a taxi at the end of your train journey then book a treintaxi when you buy your ticket...it is far cheaper than a normal taxi.

If there are several people travelling then try and buy a meermanskaart...which works out cheaper, if they still offer that type of fare.

NS.NL doesn't seem to give option of return journey? And when I got to the latter stages of booking a single it asked me for the 'start date'

What are on the day train prices like over there Gully?

Think you can only get return if it's on the same day.

Pricing on the day is pretty similar to our prices, especially with the Euro as it is at the moment. Schipol to Rotterdam is about £20, for 90 minute journey

Thanks for the info.

My journey doesn't seem to be 'book-a-able' online. Rail Europe doesn't even give me details

The German website I used to book up trains from Hamburg to Bremen was top notch.

I hope so.

Come on BoF you're clever, why can't I buy these tickets online . As Springal said on the day tickets are so dear. Don't wanna risk bunking it abroad.

Why not just buy two singles...remember prices being pretty reasonable whenever you travelled. I lived in the south and, although I moved back to the UK in 2003, it was something like £15 for a return to Amsterdam.

Word of advice, if you are going to Enschede, don't take any fireworks with you...the town was nearly destroyed by an explosion at a firework store several years back, many people were killed, it would seem a little insensitive to start letting bangers or rockets off.

Is this because the ticket office guys at Amsterdam train station want to piss themselves laughing when you try to book a ticket in Dutch ? ???

Thanks for the advise. Talking of fireworks, we're expecting a bit of a fiery reception anyway.

Will book two singles - 23 Euro's return, not too bad I suppose.

Cheers.

Its always better to split the journey in terms of getting the best price for train tickets. I am going to Poland from Cezch and it is far cheaper for me to get a ticket to the boarder and then a ticket in Poland to get the rest of the way in Poland.

Just an idea as it has worked for me.

Best of luck.
