[Misc] Butterfly?

Never seen one like this before. Found it in my shed and set it free??

When. I went to NY one October I found a bush/hedges about 50 metres long just completely covered With Red Admirals..... Thousands of them.
Not much to do in Statin island be warned.

Butterflies.. was a lot of them when I was a kid. Nowadays.. not so much.

In Norwegian they are called "sommerfugl" (summerbirds) by the way. Beautiful name.

Peacocks are birds with big tails, that is definitely a butterfly.

Yeah, the ******s (or, rather, their caterpillars) destroyed the Brussel Sprouts I tried to grow last year. I won't bother again.

It's stunning, but can't believe you've not seen one of them before? Not having a dig, just genuinely thought them to be quite a common sight!

Butterflies.. was a lot of them when I was a kid. Nowadays.. not so much.

The German word for butterfly is "schmetterling", also beautiful and one of the more pleasant sounding German words. Not at all gutteral.

The fields up this way are full of small bright orange butterflies no larger than a fingernail. I don't tend to see many others.

I get the occasional red admiral in my garden, but lots of painted ladies and little white butterflies which have spots, who tend to like my beech hedge.
I’ve got lots of hebes, and lavender plants so that attracts them, and the sedums to come in September.

I saw one one of those Haha butterflies the other day, on my lawn.
I didn't go that close to it, but suprised me by flipping over on it's side.
Very strange.
