Been done to deaf i no but having just checked the latest news on the Brighton & hove website it now states this:

Latest News
Buses to the Amex Football Stadium
Football Buses to the Amex Stadium

Brighton & Hove Buses is pleased to be providing a network of bus routes serving the Amex Stadium on match days. The Albion are selling travel vouchers with their season tickets. You show your travel voucher to each driver on your way to the Stadium. You will also be able to show your smartcard season ticket to the driver for free travel to the match.

I know that the p&R are voucher only but if you travel on one of the scheduled services 23 or 25 do you only have to flash your smartcard for free travel, i've been buying vouchers, whats going on here.

We keep on hearing that at the next match only those with vouchers will be able to travel on the P&R buses, and every match the drivers couldn't care less. So buy them if you wish, but don't expect them to be used.

Clearly the Albion has a fixed priced contract with the bus companies, thus the drivers/buses get paid the same no matter how many or how few passengers they take.

I think they need to charge on the day, that would save a lot of messing about.

"Park & Ride services will only accept travel vouchers issued by the football club and national concessionary passes for travel". Not match tickets or smartcard season tickets?

It seems to be the case that the Travel Voucher scheme is hanging on to life, by a thread. Are Travel Vouchers needed for train travel? Not in my experience. But I've not yet travelled via Brighton Station on a matchday.

Charge on the day Tory Boy, and the buses would go nowhere, far to slow.

Could I ask if anybody has used the 28/29/29B bus service between Lewes and Falmer ? I'm going to the Swan pre-match and parking is easy along from Lewes prison so this would be ideal. Any experiences ? Will we get on ok at the prison ? Ta

Got it confirmed from b&h c/s, Don't need to buy a travel voucher just flash your season ticket smart card for free travel on the 23 or 25, worked ok for us on saturday except on the way the driver looked a bit bewildered, i had printed off the page from the buses website to show the driver just in case

Easy as pie. Season tickets seem to work with bus drivers- not sure why I paid £30 for the travel vouchers. Takes about 15 minutes and you rarely wait more than 20 minutes for a bus at that time. If you are going to the Swan: get down at Falmer Village, pop up the steps and over the bridge. The Falmer Station stop is 500m further for the ground.
To get back you need to walk under the A27 and then along it towards Lewes. Takes 15 minutes, give or take.

Yep, we did it (4 of us) and it was a dream. Free street parking 5 mins away in Lewes and an empty bus. And no travel vouchers required. Couldn't be better. Only small gripe is the ridiculous catering to the Falmer locals by not letting us walk via the pond and hence endangering our kids by forcing us to cross the slip road and roundabout. But we're only fans so we don't count !

That is my regular route to games, and it suits me just fine; it's even worked fine for the two Carling Cup games. I park 10-15 minutes from the prison. I would suggest you get on the bus at the university bus stop rather than the Swan one on the way back, as the bus is usually crammed by the time it reaches the Swan, but I find it the best way for me. I parked in the same place on Saturday but used the train, as I need exercise, but that was over 20 minutes each way.
