If he signs and scores will we be singing HALLELUJAH from the stands? I can't believe all this is SO REAL.

Ok, enough of the Jeff Buckley puns. This would be an excellend move to soften the blow of losing EB.

Indeed, it's still going to be a shame to be saying our LAST GOODBYE to Bennett though. At least he's going with so much more GRACE than Glenn Murray.

Sorry, I'll get me coat...

Are we only going to buy players called Will?? Whilst this looks to have been a reasonable strategy so far I can't help thinking that this might limit our options in the future.

Hi all,

Just thought i'd sign up after seeing the posts about Don and Will.

Seems like the Buckley deal is all but done, If we get decent money for it I'll be pleased. Buckley is absolutely fantastic ON HIS DAY.. but, although this was his real breakthrough season, he had far to many off days and found himself on the bench for the good part. Another thing about Buckley is that if an opposition player so much as sneezes he'll go down. At 22 aswell he is/was one of the older players in our sqaud but didn't really show it. OH yeah and don't expect him to defend!!
If you can manage to get some consistancey in the lad then i'm sure he'll be a great asset, but for us - with 4 goals and 4 assists - it won't be a massive blow! Rumours are going round that we're after Craig Conway from Dundee, if selling Buckley aids in getting him then show me the ££££!

As for Cowie, it would be beyond a huge blow if we lost him. Consistent, talented workhorse. Honestly, I can't see him moving to a newly promoted League 1 team. Where has the rumour that you're after him come from?

Anyway, hope you get the best out of Bucko if it all goes through - and give us as much money as you like. Just get away from Don

cheers, i watched a few of your watford vids..... 4 goals and 4 assists in a season, not very prolific.

He looks like a new Paul Brooker, spellbinding skill on his day or totally anonymous on an off day.

lets hope its more of the former.

As for Cowie? i have never heard of him tbh, but it seems your wage cap is one of the lowest in the league this year, so if he did come it may likely be for a double your salary type offer.

Good luck to you WFC, I know this aint very nice, but our fans also know the 'losing key players' feeling all to well. What can we do about the powers that be? not a lot.....:glare:

I'm glad you won't miss him too much, I'd hate it if we started pinching every other teams best players. I hope Gus can coach some football into him.

That is Will Buckley right there. Ran rings around a very good Cardiff side in our 4-1 win over them, and yet in far too many games he's just not shown up, and even worse he has been shockingly bad which has effected the whole team - ask any Watford fan about the first half of the Pompey game! :annoyed:

But as I say, get some consistency and he will be a top player, I just can't see that happening so not too fussed with him leaving - given the choice I'd keep him, but given the choice I'd have Messi on the wing

I'm not saying you couldn't offer higher wages for Don - but the club would be stupid to let him go for anything. He is our talisman and seems to work so well under Malky. We went on a 7 game winning streak - he gets injured on the 8th game and it was downhill from then.. just shows how much he means to our squad. A must not sell.

How do you think you'll do next season, realistically? (i've heard many BHA fans punching way above their stations)

Its a tough division with many good teams.... I guess we will both have more of an idea come August than we do now, we need more players right now and of better quality.

Of course I dream of being in the mix and emulating Norwich, Leeds or Millwall who came up season before, but our first target can only be to stay in the division and then if/when that's achieved build from that.... If we are still in championship for 12/13 season and a few more after that with small improvements each year, I will be happy.

And considering the depths we sank to and the shit we've endured, we are just enjoying this long awaited upturn..... I'm excited to be in the championship.

We seem to have got a bad rep for some peoples over exuberance, but to me it seems twofold WFC, small minority of our fans are getting ahead of themselves for sure, but also some rival fans seem to think we should just accept our fate to be a small league 1 club with no ambition and not dare to tread on anyones toes or go for better players..... arrogant upstarts if you like, for simply trying to improve.

New stadium, already pretty much sold out, and we won league one with a month to spare. It's no wonder some of us are quite optimistic.

Personally, I'm hoping we'll challenge for a place in the top six, which means we shouldn't be surprised with a midtable finish. I would be genuinely shocked if we finished anywhere near the relegation places.

Its pretty obvious to me Buckley will be one of the front 3 with Hoskins, and the new striker whoever that may be.

But can also play wide in a 4 if required, I love that we are buying players who can play in various positions.

We'll be mid-table AT WORST... this assumes we will add the approx 6 players Gus was talking about us adding, and they are all Championship-level (which they will be)... remember, we have a mid-table Championship budget, not to mention a top, top Chairman, and an equally fine young manager, and a fantastic new sold-out stadium to lure-in our new acquisitions... pessimists cheer-up and don't pander to the interlopers...
