I saw a bit of Touching The Void the other day, and the climber who got abandoned mentioned that there was a point when he got caught in a storm, thought he could go no further down the mountain and then became delirious.

At which point Boney M's "Brown Girl In The Ring" sprung into his head and wouldn't go away, for HOURS. This, at a time when he really expected he was going to die.

Could there be a more irritating (or pointless) song to spend your precious last few moments on earth to?

Me shrunk to dried peanut size and roped to a runaway car with it's brakes and button snapped on the 82 metre tracks of an anarchist's Scalextric inventor. I wriggle intensely, ants-in-my-pants style, but i haven't the strength to untether myself from metal vole intestines that round me at present, tying me to acceleration and death. I see a 4inch brickwall someway into the distance. I'll be there in about 15 minutes, i'd say, a tiny crowd of haters applauding my definitive doom and shrinkage to separate, lonely molecules alone. Throughout this quarter-hour i have Eddy Grant's Electric Avenue rattling my larynx and throttling my cerebral eardrum.
