Dunno what your point is GG but they both played the best golf over the 4 rounds and were deserved winners on the week.
To compare Hamilton to Curtis is a bit of an insult as this guy can play the game - won 5 times in Japan and once in the US earlier this season in the Honda Classic when he outbattled Davis Love III down the stretch. Curtis had hardly played on tour let alone win an event.
I managed to balance my book by having £ 3 each way at 66/1 and £ 2 each way at 33/1 Michelson in running. That £ 10 got me back £ 70. I also had £ 30 on Hamilton after full time to win the extra holes which got back £ 78.25. Will Hill were going 4/9 Els and 13/8 Hamilton for a 2 horse race.
I liked this message on Wrexham's RedPassion board:-
HAMILTON WINS THE OPEN!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex Hamilton today won the open for the first time on the course that he owns. Hamilton has already tried to turn the clubhouse around 90 degrees and build a b and q on the 15th fairway. He also expressed that he has "no interest in golf" which led fans to believe that he was only in it for the money. When Hamiltons ball found the 18th rough fans cheered and Hamilton's caddy Reames claimed the fans were "low life scum" and said "they were not real golfers as everyone who finds the rough usually whacks the ground in anger and does not cheer". Hamiltons playing partner Dennis Smith asked the fans "what has Hamilton done wrong except for find the rough and purchase the course". Though Hamilton had lied to spectators for 2 months as he claimed that it was indeed Mark Gutterman who played golf and not himself. However Gutterman was forced to resign when angry fans ran out the fairway and threw his ball back into the rough.
The media in particular seem to be siding with Hamilton as Mr mark Currievecchia and David Levet continue to head Hamiltons ball back into the middle of the fairway despite being warned by greenstaff not to do so.
When Hamilton collected the claret jug his caddy Reames claimed that the claret jug would be stored in three places but he wouldn't say where and when.
Hamilton later added he would meet with the local council and try to come to an arrangment about the course as he said the club was losing 100,000 golf balls a day and was currently 5 million golf balls down. However fans claimed that as Hamilton had only been in charge two years then the maths just didnt add up!
