I'm 'competing' in the British 10k road race around London Town on Sunday morning.
Details here.
As we discovered after we entered, it really is a race and not a fun run. I'm not expecting to see anyone dressed as a rhino or holding a "Hello mum" sign.
This thing is, I'm not really a runner.
Until six months ago I smoked 20 a day and had never run for more than about 1km (during school cross country, I used to walk with the gang at the back - quite often sneaking a ciggie en route).
I've run 10k on a treadmill (once) but nothing close to that on a road.
On a normal Sunday I wouldn't even be awake at the 9.35am start time.
In short: it's going to be hard work for me to even finish, let alone finish in good shape/time.
With this in mind, should I wear the blue and white stripes - or will a coughing, spluttering idiot at the back bring disgrace to the club?
Your opinions would be appreciated as I really can't decide.
One more thing: it's live on Channel 5. Christ.
