There's an earth in the Queen's Park area (in fact there are more than one), which is why you see urban foxes around there. I quite often see them in the evenings on my way back from work/pub. Their numbers are entirely unaffected by the ban on hunting with dogs one way or the other, of course, but it's worth bearing in mind that sightings of an animal or a species are dependent on more than population: type, availability and location of resources such as food is often a bigger factor in an individual's "visibility". Having said that, urban foxes are doing well and so it's entirely possible there are more of them around than a few years ago, too.

As to pet rabbits being mauled all over gardens, the answer is either to spend all night guarding little Flopsy with a powerful torch and an appropriate firearm (12-bore, .22, etc) or simply to use an old country trick: lay a field of very small anti-personnel mines around little Flopsy's run, at a suitable distance to avoid collateral fragment damage. Then just wait for the BANG! to announce old Reynard's demise, pop a fresh mine into the crater and cover with earth all ready to knock off the next vulpine intruder: job done, squire.

Jesus Christ dont think you have quite grasped the idea here.

Evolution is a wonderful thing.

What makes you think that all hunters are upper class "wankers"?

Another class warrior in the making?

DIY non-lethal mines? Two planks of wood with metal contacts. Keep the planks separate with matchsticks (something that will snap when under mild pressure/weight). Run a battery into the metal contacts on one plank, then run a lamp circuit off the other plank. When the planks make contact, battery-to-lamp circuit is complete. Substitute the lamp circuit for anything else you choose (door bell, etc). Voila - non-lethal anti-personnel (or fox) pressure mine.

If you want more "oomph", then break the lamp, leaving the filament intact but exposed. Buy some fireworks. Bury filament in gunpowder. Fox-deterrent and cheap way to keep the kids amused.

Do not be tempted to add lumps of metal to the mix unless you have plans to change your windows.

The above should only be carried out under the supervision of highly excitable children under the age of 12.

That's the most incoherent load of shite I've read all day.

I suppose it would be better if we broke it down to it's component parts. Ignoring punctuation (as he does), I think he's trying to say that fox hunting is a class-based event, only carried out by the upper classes. Which, as we know, is actually wrong. The support levels for fox hunting were all firmly working class (kennels, stables, etc), and in fact many of the hunters were simply people who could afford the stabling charges - not upper class, simply with more money than your average class warrior.

Giving the foxes a home - I assume this doesn't mean making up a bed in the spare room? Exactly how the foxes will take to this rehousing initiative remains to be seen.

Cleaning the shit off the streets - street sweepers and council cleaning teams are not above his rage. If you must have a shit, then use a bloody toilet, alright?!

Evolution takes a long time - yes, I think that's a given. Evolution still have to reach into some areas, obviously.

Foxes are good but not that good - not really sure what they are good at, the message is not too clear on this. Good at football, but not that good? Good enough to play up front for us, but not good enough to hold down a first team place at Chelsea? Pass.

Blame us for before blaming the fox, it's a hard world. Yes, it certainly is. We are not blaming Reynard for the Gulf War, simply for being prone to overpopulating and spreading into urban areas. Therefore, as we will not be willingly sharing our homes with the fox, and the fox will not move out willingly back to the countryside, we will be killing it. Any suggestions?

Foxes love urban areas for a number of reasons:

good food: kebabs, indian takeaways, chinese, KFC;
Few predators,
Large parks to kip in but with great access to food and other cultural facilities,
Bars,
Clubs,
Sexy vixens doing pole dancing.
Good public transport for easy accessibilty to the countryside.
This is why more than half of the UK foxes live in cities.

And why are we killing these creatures again?.

Vicar!

'cos they kill fluffy bunnies. Fluffy bunnies are higher up the "cuddle scale" than foxes, therefore foxes get to die. If they were killing nasty things with slime and scale, we wouldn't be killing the foxes. Simple.

Precisely. Deserves to be hunted to exhaustion for his taste in clothes. Preferably by some "upper class wankers".

Simon Jordan hunted by Rupert Lowe. Could make a good TV show.

Throw in the ugly old whore from Celeb BB, Jodie Marsh, and away we go. She's up for anything that gets her ratty face on the box. We can use her as one of the hounds.

I'm glad I spent so long in the military - it taught me loads of things that I will never, ever, have a use for again. And teaching primary school children how to make IEDs is not something that I can envisage taking place! [/B]

unless you taught in the schools in which potential suicide bombers frequented :jester:

ps i can still remember those lectures about IED's :nono:

If I was teaching suicide bombers, I'd make sure the fuckers used mercury switches - they wouldn't get past their own front doors that way.

No No! Fluffy Rabitts edible, Foxes not! Therefore its Rabbits I'm afraid.

RABBIT STEW
1 three pound rabbit
6 small onions, chopped
1 bay leaf
½ cup chopped celery
2 tsp. salt
2 cups diced carrots
3 raw potatoes, cut up
3 tbs. flour
1 tbs. chopped parsley

Clean rabbit and soak in salted water. Drain, disjoint it in pieces for serving and place in a large kettle with onions, bay leaf, celery and salt. Cover with cold water and cook slowly until tender, about two hours. Add chopped carrots and potatoes and continue cooking until these vegetables are done. Smooth flour with a little cold water and add slowly. When thickened, add chopped parsley and serve.

Whats up Doc!

Now leave the foxes alone!

Foxes are edible as well. Rabbits just don't fight back as hard when you are trying to break their little fluffy necks, but the effort you expend in offing a fox is well worth it.

And no, they don't taste like chicken. They taste like rabbits. Well, OK, chickens if they have been eating lots of them.
