Only if the place has been besmeared in the manner of the "blanket men" protests in the Maze prison in the last 18 months or so since I last went there - If the Lord Nelson even gets nominated, I'm FLOUNCING.

The Spanish Lady takes the crown for me. So much potential but the place has got so depressingly grim even the pissheads of Saltdean have moved on...

How have we got 225 posts in and not mentioned the horrors of "Vodka Revs"?!?!?

Full of paralytic hen do's, coked up Joey Essex-a-likes, and children. Plus they don't do anything that could even be related to ale.

Someone PLEASE second this monstrosity!!!

agreed, it is a bit rough and ready around the edges but despite that it is one of the few Hove pubs where normal type people can have a drink and catch up without being surrounded by street drinkers and crazy types screaming non stop and also where there's none of the fake snobbery and pretend wealth which most bars/pubs have in the area. If the BB was voted the worst then clearly some people haven't been in many pubs!

Oooh, didn't realise we had a man of the people on here. Mai Culpa! I didn't say it was the worst pub, I said it was a hole. Know I now you sup in there I'm def putting it forward as probably the worst pub in Brighton/UK. Tit.

Any pubs you guys do like?

You're aware of the object of the thread? You may want to look up the Brighton's BEST pub thread. Hell's Bells and buckets of blood, have people been on the silly soup today?

The Cuthbert does better food than just about any other restaurant in Brighton, with the possible exceptions of 64 Degrees and Chilli Pickle.
I also like The Basketmakers, The Nelson, The Great Eastern, and a few others. Will try that Craft place, as I've gathered that HT knows a thing or two about beer and burgers.

You'd be better off breaking this down into areas of Brighton/Hove and taking the top worst from those to put forward. There's just too many to make this work as it stands. I put forward the pub that has been known as The Chimney Stack among other names, across the road from Prestonville Rd off the Dials, beyond the church. THAT is an awful pub.

The Geese on Southover, while not the WORST pub, certainly has been going downhill steadily over the last 5/6 years. Last time I was in there was run by some Miss Piggy lookalike and her various pillhead cohorts. In fact Southover is pretty much ruined because of the goons that have taken over what used to be some of the best pubs in town. Shame.

Christ Almighty Nibble, in the seven years you have been on NSC you have gone from Angry Young Man to Grumpy old Barsteward without stopping for breath. What happened to middle age ? :D

Hardly a pub is it? If you are going to include Vodka Revs, you may as well include Oxygen, Oceana and any other late night bars/clubs in the list

I used to frequent the Brewery Tap. The first local pub i drank in with mates. Denise ran the gaff and taxi driver Chris did the sunday night quiz. It was an alright place for a pint or two. Has changed hands a few times over recent years. I have been in there recently for a drink and it was deserted. The place did a decent trade when we played at the Withdean Stadium. I have many fond memories of the Tap  Used to enjoy the Compton Arms for a game of pool during the late 90's, when skipping the odd lesson at Bhasvic. The place was a hole, had some bizarre locals who came in but served under-aged drinkers with a simple "how old are you?".

HAS to be the Franklin! Only pub I've ever been glad to get out of alive!
Blimey, you really can't have been to many pubs - the Franklin's like a knitting circle compared to some pubs I've been in Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester and London

While it's not always a reflection of quality, it's interesting to note that the Nelson has been removed from CAMRA's Good Beer Guide for the first time in eons. Excrement wasn't mentioned though
