Anybody recall previous meetings ?

I seem to remember a last game of the season in the mid 80's and Barry venison scoring a cracking own goal. Loads of protests after the game. Bedson Bedson Bedson out out out !

I remember the terraces being painted red at Roker Park.

Wasn't it against Sunderland where the infamous goal-hanging Peter Ward incident occured. Sunderland player lying injured on his own goal line so Wardy waited unnoticed in what would have been an offside position. the ball punted up to him and scored

3-3 end of the 91/92 season. Sunderland fans singing if your all going to Wembley clap you hands. I think it was around two weeks before their FA cup final appearance against Liverpool where they were beaten 2-0. I'm sure Farrington scored that day!

I remember going top of the old Division 2 at Roker in 1977 - our highest ever postion. Steve Piper scored in the 2-0 win.

Remember this WELL! We won 3-0 if memory serves me. They won the League and we came second i do believe, old 3rd Div.
