Doesn't get any easier up there as the fast ground seems to shift from meeting to meeting now. Eddie Fremantle wrote an interesting piece in the Observer last Sunday suggesting that some of the service vehicles drive down part of the stands' side turf, leaving a strip of faster ground and so favouring any jockey with the nous (Ryan Moore being an obvious example) to find it.

After all the rain but now a few dry days, it's anyone's guess where they'll be going so perhaps you just have to put your money down and hope. George Baker isn't the daftest jockey by any means though, and I reckon Scarlet Flyer in the 3.30 is still pretty well handicapped. The first and second from his last race at Goodwood have both run well since and 6-1 on Betfair looks a decent price.

Eddie F's piece is here, btw

Had the winner of the last, and that was it. Thought about a couple of quid e/w on that 50/1 shot that won but didn't actually bother with it in the end.

Was that the 12/1 winner of the 4th? My step-daughter had that one because it had a nice name
:rolleyes::glare:

Yes, yes it was, I didn't actually go yesterday bit did them online in the morning, for some reason when I checked the results on my mobile I thought I'd did another horse but when I got home and checked my Bet365 account it turned out I had that one so...

:lol:

A horse somehow managed to escape from the stalls by going down on its knees and crawling underneath! It obviously legged it, and went straight down the track, past the finishing line, turned, and got about halfway backdown again before it got reigned in. Everyone was laughing and cheering the horse, until it was walked back past the stands, when everyone could clearly see it had badly hurt itself, presumably crawling underneath the stalls. There was quite a bit of blood pouring from a wound on its shoulder.
