[Albion] Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crawley Town *** Official Match Thread ***

Silly old bat
When you see a tackle like that, I can't blame someone for thinking "clubs should be able to sue each other for that kind of thing".
I understand why they can't and I'm not saying it would be a good idea. But that was a deliberate attempt to injure, which probably would have been criminal in another context. And it's cost the club the use of an asset they just spent tens of millions of pounds on. Just seems kinda wrong that the final whistle is the end of the matter.
The Football League should be able to dish out red cards after the game, in the way the FA does.

Crawley were always like that even in pre season friendlies.
This is why PL teams mostly play second string against lower league cloggers.
I guess we were in that category a few years back.

win is a win especially against such a physical side. Getting away from obvious I was surprised that Crawley looked so good at times . Although there attacks often came from our mistakes. Several of our players looked very poor including Lampty, Simmonds,Encisc and Sarmienta

It feels like the general consensus is that nobody can find a good thing to say about us tonight, despite winning 4-0.

I obviously hope O’Riley’s ok, wishing him a speedy recovery.

We’re through, which is what the team were sent out to do, and a few different players have goals, which is great for their confidence.

It wasn’t a classic, they had chances, and it feels to me that each match I’ve seen under Hürzeler has been slightly less intense than the one before. Having said that, we could easily have come unstuck and lost focus, allowing the injury to O’Riley interfere with our concentration. We stuck to our game, even with some fairly thuggish defending going on. It gives me confidence that we can play against that when we have to.

Hope the docs have good news about MO’R, and roll on the weekend.

Crawley came with the clear aim of putting there weight about which must have come as an instruction from the manager which is fair enough however from what I witnessed the players went way beyond what’s acceptable they must have taken it upon themselves to go onto the pitch to hurt people, I only hope it was not from direct instructions of the manager and was just over exuberance their number 26 Williams should have been sent off way before he was taken off.

Did you, perchance, purchase one on Saturday? If so, maybe you could (at some point) send me a PM with the Everton attendance figure (as there have been conflicting numbers reported). Thanks.
I did. I'll PM you it when I get in.

A wins a win as they say but I’m not sure too many of the fringe players enhanced their reputation that much this evening.
Couple this with Matt’s injury and I’m weirdly feeling a little deflated tonight.
I think a few of those guys may find themselves dropping down the leagues in the not too distant future.
