Fulham were lucky, Sheff Utd were lucky, Burnley were lucky. I'd actually call it a trend.
The fact that we can't keep a clean sheet is a trend.

But of those other games you mention, did I say they were all lucky? I don't think so. Dahoud getting sent off against Sheffield was a turning point, and it would be good if our players didn't make stupid challenges like that.

Come on everyone, although massively disappointing, look at Manchester utd at home against little old Bournemouth. There is a long way to go, Hopefully Marseille will feel the full force.
Agree. Burnley are fighting for their lives. Apart from some good saves we would of won that fairly comfortably. We're still very much under strength and didn't play well enough 1st half but, 2nd half we battered them but again, we have to keep clean sheets which we simply can't do at moment.

To be fair, Burnley almost got a 2nd goal early in the 2nd half, the goalie with the outstretched leg before the 2nd half onslought. Everyone would have been happy with a point if that had gone in.

Overall, 'on paper', we did more than enough to win. Am I disappointed? Yes, but only slightly. We played well against a team who are fighting for survival - we were there not so long ago - and we were unlucky to not get a winning goal. Just imagine how a Man U supporter must be feeling today.....let alone a Palace one. :)

Only 3 teams have scored more than us, but you think that's the problem?

The truth is that we've got a lot of injuries and we're rotating players who aren't on the same wavelength, and playing people out of position, so we're making mistakes. We're also bedding new players who aren't up to it yet.

Van Hecke was fairly poor when he first played for us (to be expected), but now he's great. Dahoud hasn't played well for us yet (bar the friendlies in the states) - maybe he'll make the grade, maybe he won't, but we don't have the luxury of buying ready made talent, so we bring new players in and lose points as a result.
We all know all of this - it doesn’t change the fact we were very much below par and making avoidable mistakes in the first half. Burnley were not playing particularly well, they just played with more determination and commitment but were also sloppy in defence and failed to convert. Milner may have scored an own goal but it was still poor defending from us. Conceding a goal first against a side like Burnley just before half time was always going to be a tough challenge for the second half, even more so as the clock ran down at 1:1. After that it was a combination of unlucky finishing and great goal keeping.

We were good in the second half - Lallana and Dahoud were not working well so hats off to RDZ for a half time change ( early for RDZ) - Mitoma and Gilmour made an immediate impact. Gross, Gilmour and Adingra I thought had a good half and we created a lot of chances. Chances don’t win matches unless they are converted especially when combined with some bad luck when shooting and some excellent keeping from the opposition so in that sense Burnley were lucky that we didn’t manage to slip another couple in.

Thought the half was even they were better earlier, we were better later. But who was genuinely surprised when they scored
Well yeah, we've seen it so many times we're not surprised. But that doesn't mean it was deserved.

If teams can soak up our pressure, defend well, then hit us on the break and score (and that does happen) then fair enough, it's a tactic that's worked. Like Everton last season. But Burnely offered very little today and the goal was a fluke. If there's going to be a deflected goal, you'd expect it to go to the side that's peppering a goal with shots, rather than the side who get one shot away.

Took you a while

Let’s be honest out of the two games Marseille is the priority so can understand some being rested for this.

Awful first half hour

Credit to Burnley and especially their keeper for hanging on.

Mitoma made a significant difference when he came on but feel like we are overly reliant on him and to some regard Adingra on the right. This will be a worry come AFCON We seem to play the same Gross / Mitoma line of attack over and over again. Sure it has and can be effective however it’s noticeable that we rarely have any joy through the middle and maybe too predictable with our wing play

Anyone it’s a point over United and as a lesser concern over palace as well

On to Marseille
Agreed, and we miss Fati for playing through the middle... I think.

Reasons we drew that (and keep dropping points to relegation sides at home)

Over rotation. Sorry but we don't have another game till 8pm Thursday. There's 5 full days recovery. Start your best team, win the game then rest players.

Crap finishing. Remarkably we're a poor side in front of goal for a team closing in on 100 goals this year. But we're not breaking goals records because we're clinical. It's just through sheer number of chances created. We must do much better with our chances if we're going to get the points we deserve.

Luck. Its not all luck clearly, but f***ing hell you'd expect one to go in off someone's arse or something if we've taken 30 shots. We're entitled to feel in this game and plenty of others at home that things have not gone our way

Lack of ruthlessness in selection. Time for rdz to retire Milner and Lallana. Time has caught up with them. We have enough other senior players on the pitch. Dahoud did nothing before his suspension to earn an immediate recall. I can't remember being so confident in the view that an Albion player won't make it. Let's bring through hinsh instead.

Their keeper. At least 2 terrific saves. Incredibly escaped a booking. Had he got the booking 20 mins earlier when the other bloke did, we'd have had another 2 or 3 mins to find the winner.

I sort of appreciate the need to rotate and give players a rest - but TBH I'd rather we tried resting them in the second half of matches, not the first!
But if we'd gone in 1 up instead of 1 down, we could have rested them for even longer, and had them fresh for Marseille.

You said their goal was coming. It wasn't.

We had 29 shots, 11 on target. They had 6/3.

Go ahead and pretend we were shit if you like. But you'll be wrong.

Blimey.

That first half was like a recurring dream from the Potter era.

Pretty sure burnley themselves have done that to us at least once before.
And quite a few other shite negative teams.

We were crap first half. It happens. No drama.
