Why didn't we beat Fulham, Sheffield Utd, West Brom or Burnley. They don't all have better strikers than us ? There is no entitlement that we should have beaten Arsenal, there is an entitlement we should have given it a proper go.

You’ve got a point not winning those games will relegate you more than losing to Arsenal

We didn’t lose to any of them either because, funnily enough, they have strikers of a similar standard to ours. Which rather proves the point that we are about where we should be, regardless of style or manager. As for giving it a go, sure let’s play all our key players for the second time in 2 days and risk them picking up strains that keep them out for weeks....

As it was, our fresher line-up did well but in the end Arsenal had the benefit of being able to bring on a top class striker. The only real difference between the sides.

I just woke up and read the Sporting Life commentry.
It read like a game of 2 halves, the first ours and the second theirs.
I got to nip out for a job this morning, but will watch the replay and read this thread on my return.

Get you, coming on here with reasoned comments after yet another narrow defeat!

Not good enough, you should be fuming

If I were you, I wouldn’t bother on either count.

Instead watch groundhog day

Reaping the rewards of the last transfer window which was rubbish. Easy to start going backwards in this investment demanding Premier League.

This. Many of us said it at the end of the window and were told we were being pessimistic and signing Lallana and Veltman for nothing meant it was a superb window. We had no attacking threat last year and did nothing about it. Was always going to come back and bite us.

This this and this again. Sadly we’ve been proved right in what we said and feared.

So you throw the insults around. Ironic as that’s what my post was about.

But we’re hardly ‘stinking the league out’ a la Hughton era.

that's totally insulting to (probably) the best manager this club has had. Only the last few months unto CH were tricky. Still kept us up.

We didn't win any of them either, and by that rationale we will draw with the worst sides in the league and lose to all the better ones because of our standard of striker. We failed to beat the teams at our level, and now the ones slightly above it. I and many others are deeply concerned about this. I don't want the club chopping and changing managers all the time, but we are in an awful rut. Either we need better players, a change of manager or the players we have need to find a way of winning.

Chill out , there's plenty of time left in the season for absolutely anything to happen ! There's a rumour going around we're actually going to incorporate a real size Goal into training routines from Thursday, things are only going to get better from now on .

I recall NSC being fraught and angry in those awful final 4 months of turd under CH. Anecdotally, a couple of mods admitted to not attending home games for no reason other than being disillusioned. Anyone saying that was attacked as being a bad fan.

yeah, but at least we're missing chances, rather than hughton hoofball, soccer suicide

The club need to either back the manager by buying proper quality strikers, or sack him and roll the dice with yet another manager.

To be honest, a new manager would still struggle with this squad if we're not going to buy the players that are fit for this level of football.
