As a beginner who is teaching himself via YouTube, GarageBand etc, can someone reassure me that playing an F gets easier as you practice.

I am really struggling with covering more than one string with one finger, and F requires e and B to be pressed with one finger.

I find that there are a lot of Beatles songs that have an F in them..

Yup, the open F does get easier, however if you can master barre chords it's even better and it opens up a whole load more to you - though you should still know how to do an open F.

I've heard of but not experienced poor set ups from GAK. Bernie Goodfellow would be excellent but I've always struggled to get hold of him. I've used Bedrock in Burgess Hill before for my basses and always felt they have done a decent job. The absolute best is Charlie Chandlers.

Just spent an enjoyable hour or so in GAK this morning, and bought myself a rather nice Gibson Les Paul - some very good information and advice from the very knowledgeable chappie that served me.

Whilst I was in there, I did happen to overhear someone asking about Luthier type work and I think the guy said that there is a specialist they use, that doesn't work for GAK, but comes in to the shop once a week to take on any work.

The guy they are referring to is Graham Wheeler and is based in Washington out near Steyning. He is our go to for anything that our in house guys can't do. He did a great job on my Les Paul when the neck snapped.

I'm surprised you had a problem with GAK, I had my guitar serviced there a half a year ago and it has been great ever since.
