Ok so I'm on a Brighton forum telling you I;ve supported Brighton since 1992 and for me this is my most proudest I've been supporting Brighton in that time. Long may it continue. This is me supporting Brighton yes?
I didn't go to the game yesterday, so why does that matter?

It doesn’t

It doesn’t matter at all, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. A genuine question though. Why are you proudest supporting the Albion now than you have ever been in the past? I get we are in the top division and that’s great but more proud? I ask as Reflecting on your post I am sure I am no prouder now than I have been many many times in the past when supporting this great club.

Wow so all this is pointless. Just because a game didn't appeal in a way that convinced us to attend. (for whatever reason) to the vast majority of supporters doesn't really mean much. We are going to all be there in our next home game cheering the mighty Albion on. By the way, I listen to every away game on Radio Sussex. If I'm not supporting being a Brighton supporter doing that what am I doing?

Its about the achievement. I remember Steve Gritt saving us and sure I remember feeling proud, but to get to the Premiership we had to achieve Several targets without real failiure. For instance under Tony we have had two promotions and not a single relegation (yet). So this period has been success without the failiures. In the past though I have seen many relegations and it tarnishes things (if that makes sense).

I do wonder about people's values. Yes, we are in the top flight but is that why you are so proud? Surely I would have thought for most the proudest moment, particularly in recent years, was in the wake of the Shoreham tragedy when #together actually meant something.

Been going regularly since 1976 and for me, the proudest moment was standing on the terrace at Wembley singing Abide With Me. The realization after many years of watching finals that we were really there.
Trouble is that since 1992 the FA cup has steadily been devalued and I would suspect that many youngsters would go to Wembley with zero understanding of the tradition of the cup. It would be a great day out for them but being in the Premier League is the be all and end all as it has been rammed down their throats by the marketing men for the past 25 years.

Not sure if I'm reading you right but for me the relegations, whilst hard to take at the time, make the other achievements extra special. If you haven't experienced the bad times then there is an air of complacency. Arsenal fans only know playing in the top flight, as do the majority of Manure fans. However, there are plenty of Man City fans who have seen both sides of the coin and their success is probably more enjoyable.

Trouble is, we can't turn back the clock.

For the last nearly 24 hours, we as Brighton fans have been accused of showing no respect to this great cup competition, on radio shows. Is it us the fans or the FA...........?

You mean that utter **** on Talksport? Who gives a flying **** what he thinks. A Cockney Man Utd fan. A fan in fact of the club that helped destroy the FA Cup by refusing to play in it.

I see your point and I guess your right to a large extent.

I am really proud of the way we handled the Shoreham air disaster. I really believe both club and fans couldn't have handle that better but that is part of this period. It's part of the success of this time. The off field aspect of the club is as amazing as the on field. This period is the Bloom period, he has done more than just put money into the club that's for sure.

It always amuses me when some in the media claim the FA Cup is still a big competition.Compared to 20 years ago it's half the competition it was.Rather than trying to convince the non believers they should maybe focus on how they can get it to the level it was before. How can they get teams to play their strongest players. How can they get the interest back from supporters. The fact it's no longer at the old iconic Wembley but a new stadium on the same ground doesn't help. Also the 5.15 kick off is a big no no for me.Put it back to 3pm.

I'll take no lectures about disrespecting the cup when the FA itself allowed the largest team in the land to opt out, played havoc with the timetable of the final, arranged for the final three matches to be played at Wembley each year, introduced penalty shootouts and basically conspired in the dismemberment of everything that once made the tournament special.

Blimey, even the origins of our rivalry are largely attributed to the 1976 FA Cup. Why? Precisely because of the epic three part ding dongs you used to get. The cup has been undermined by the organisers and the public know when they are being sold a pup. I'd have gone last night if I could but I don't blame people for opting out either.

Oh yeah, and may I just say we beat Palace? I know you all know that already. It just sounds so good I thought I'd mention it again.

You beat our 2nd team with your better 2nd team on the night & although pains me to say Bha thoroughly deserved it ,The 12000 loyal Brighton fans who were there made more noise than the league game fair play to them,
I reckon the switch to Mon and the £25 ticket price school next day put a lot of people off especially family fans who Bha have loads,
The people who bothered to turn up should be proud, as should the Palace fans who made the trip & who's train didn't leave Falmer until gone 10.50pm

Coventry City with a similar population to Brighton & Hove managed a mere 14000 for their match against Stoke City. No respect.

Seven of the starting eleven against us started in your win against Southampton. Admittedly arguably your two best players(Zaha and Sakho) didn't start but it seems a bit of a stretch to say that it was your reserves.

Brighton did thoroughly deserve the win though.:albion2:

Looking back I guess there wasn't quite the desire to stay in the old First Divison as there is to stay in the Prem or be promoted to it. Therefore you have teams putting out weaker sides in the FA Cup and saving their best for league games. Then you have the Champions League which although years ago we had the various Euro Cups, they didn't earn the same money relatively speaking. The FA cup is suffering due to the success of the Prem and CL.

The TV companies that show football need to be careful what they wished for.
Many years ago the FA Cup final was the only live game on TV, now there is a cup match on the box 4 days in a row.

I'm certainly no fan of Utd but you should check your history and the background as to why they didn't play in it!!!!

There is too much football in general on the TV and not just the cup.Plus we no longer have a summer break with or without
international tournaments.Mini tournaments,friendlies,CL qualifiers etc.It's non stop.
