Your chance to act with the stars
by Linda Harrison
The company behind smash hit films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones's Diary is coming to Brighton.
Working Title Films is looking for new talent to appear in its latest project alongside Hollywood stars Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany.
Romantic comedy Wimbledon will be partly filmed in Brighton, the home city of the main character Peter, played by Bettany, who appeared as Russell Crowe's imaginary room-mate in A Beautiful Mind.
Wimbledon is set at the world-famous tennis championship and is a tale of romance across the net.
Peter, who is unlucky in love and sport, manages to get into Wimbledon by a fluke.
There he falls for American tennis star Lizzie, played by Dunst of Spiderman fame.
But can he win the men's singles title?
The movie turns to Brighton when Bettany's character goes to visit his family in the city.
Lizzie meets his parents, including his dad, played by Bernard Hill, who starred in Shirley Valentine and The Lord Of The Rings.
Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash is the tennis adviser.
The director is Richard Loncraine, of Richard III and The Gathering Storm, and the script is by Jennifer Flackett & Mark Levin and Adam Brooks (French Kiss).
They are looking for extras to appear in the Brighton scenes, to be filmed from September 1 to 5, when Bettany and Dunst will be here.
The open casting event is at the PhotoMedia Centre, Middle Street, from 9am to 6.30pm on Saturday. About 100 people will be chosen.
Scouts are looking for people of all ages and they do not need acting experience. Successful applicants will be paid £60 a day.
A spokeswoman for the casting department said: "We're looking for all kinds of people to be passers-by in the film, including joggers, clubbers, cyclists and skateboarders. We also need a burger seller."
Working Title has made more than 70 films, including Notting Hill, Elizabeth, Billy Elliot and About a Boy.
