Brezovan's lack of catching balls.

I know he has been playing better recently and he is not a bad shot stopper, but does anyone else worry every time the opposing team has a corner/set piece? For a keeper of 6'7, you would think he could come out and collect the balls, but instead ALWAYS tries to punch them away, which he ends up not doing well and resulting in us conceding.

I seriously think that at the end of the season, our no.1 priority is a solid keeper. Cardiff were kept in the game tonight because of there's.

Usually i'd agree with you, however yesterday I thought he played well and caught most stuff. The only punch I can remember lead to their 2nd goal (and what a goal it was).

Meopham, Kent.
I assume this is a reference to the 2nd goal last night.

Personally, I don't like a keeper punching the ball clear, but THAT looked like the right situation to do exactly that, as he was getting to the ball through a crowd of players. The ball was swung in flat enough that he didn't get the opportunity to rise high and catch the ball at the highest point, where no-one else can reach.

He did also get sufficient on the punch to put the ball outside the area. The fact a player was bang on the end of it, unmarked, and hit a belter straight back in, well, it happens. It's about playing the percentages, and that was less likely to happen than fumbling an attempted catch in that circumstance.

Good points made, but the real top teams in the Championship all have a solid keeper that they can reply on. I think that next season a solid keeper is needed if we want to seriously challenge for promotion..Stoke have 2 quality keepers in Begavic (sp?) and Sorensen, wouldn't mind one of them on a season loan

Not a fan of him punching but don't think the 2nd goal was his fault. That ball falls to 99% of players in this division they spoon it over or out to the corner flag. Whittingham is class and pulled out a great finish. As Gritt23 says, it happens.

This.

Plus, he doesn't 'always' punch it he caught a lot of balls last night, but much like with the good contributions barnes makes, large portions of the crowd seem to ignore these catches.
