It's not about having a referendum until you get the result you want.

Surely everyone has to admit that now the electorate are far far more aware of the ramifications of Brexit. So now you would get a truer result.

That result would only be followed by the need of another (3rd)referendum if the same circumstances applied. That the electorate were much more informed to make a decision than the last one.

I would hope that that would not apply.

And Scotland, should Salmond/Sturgeon get their next referendum? Their argument is a similar one of the Scottish electorate weren’t fully informed on future UK developments with the EU.

I voted Remain, but is that democracy, to keep having referenda until you get the result you want?

Before Brexit, we universally condemned the lies of Salmond/Sturgeon who agreed to their “once in two generations referendum”, lost it, then immediately started complaining for a second.

Does politics in the UK become a series of referenda, then follow up referenda?

Did the population understand the repecussions of this ridiculous exercise? Did the population get taken in by bullshit? Mogg and Johnson have BOTH changed their minds, but the electorate isnt allowed that luxury. Most of it was fuelled by xenophobia and racism, although now, apparently, all Brexiteers were against being controlled by the EU. Bullshit. Sorry, but that is Bullshit. Ive had 'chats' with halfwits on forums that believed all asians were going to be leaving. The history of brexit is all documented. This crap isnt even the hard part of leaving.

He messaged me earlier and asked to borrow my Billy Bragg albums. There is hope.

Yes

Things have changed, substantially.

I don't think there has been a time in UK history where the electorate has become more politically knowledgeable in such a short space of time.

One of the few silver linings to this cloud.

And this is the problem. Even arch brexiteer Michael Portillo agrees. Referendum in this country are a ****ing stupid idea because we haven't got a political system that works well with referendum.

I would prefer us to remain, but I can't readily support another referendum when having one in the first place was a ****ing stupid idea.

The will of the people ? The will of half the people without a chance to undo it at the next opportunity.

However - it isn't up to me or anybody else on here unless you are an MP. If we end up with one, I will vote the same way and pray a ****wit like Cameron never organises one again,

Agree that no one would’ve known the huge, costly and lengthy repercussions of trying to obtain Brexit.

A personal view, away from the bubble of Brighton (and London and the Czech Republic), is that a collosal proportion of the British population from East Kent, to the Fens, to northern towns, to Wales, were getting angrier and angrier about immigration and the effect on their communities over about 20 years. Borne out in voting patterns. Even Sussex outside of the large conurbations voted Brexit. We in Brighton just don’t see it, feel it, hear it. I’m not so sure that the bus telling us £m more for the NHS and other lies were telling. We’ll never know.

Brexitteers, you initiated this bullshit, mostly on emotional reasons, and falling for bullshit. Time to accept responsibility and stop blaming everybody else.

Sussex isn't affected by immigration at all. However many (usually forgotten) with little money who can't afford to buy a house because the prices have been sent through the roof by commuting "urban liberals". Those who have one don't want others to have one because it spoils the view,

Little to no public transport and get hit by petrol and car prices because "we are encouraging people not to use them".

You are 100% spot on, Brighton is a bubble within an area of discontent.

I'd vote for any political party that

1) Smashes in tax anyone selfish enough in London to run a car to subsidise those elsewhere you need one.

2) Smashes in tax anyone in London who owns a second home in Sussex.

Lastly, what's completely ****ed is that I have one of the lowest council taxes in the UK. Sorry ? how does that work ?

Can someone explain to somebody a touch slow like me:

Should we be forced into a best of three, and Leave win again, how would it get through anyway if EU won't budge and our learned MPs vote it down? Aren't we back here again?

Ergo, no point, just get on with it.

You,vote,on what you want from wants available, stay, Leave, and if lesve n ideal or Mays. Simpe

Watch from 4.55 onwards as Emily Maitlis tears him apart last night.
Saw that at the time, didn't feel he was particularly torn apart. At least not in comparison to Tory on Tory.

Where are all the usual protesters about protests on NSC? Did they forget the Brexit March?

Anyway, the Waitrose Katy Hopkins Julia Hartley Brewer makes it absolutely clear that not all brexiters are thugs, or xenophobes!

This total farce will cause massive voting apathy at the next general election

No. A minority very, very, very smug. Look like getting what they wanted, even though a majority of us didn't.

MPs are now officially traitors to democracy - none of them are fit to govern our wonderful country. This isn't over..........................

Oh I can see quite a motivation for removing MPs who did not honor their manifesto commitments.

That is if they don't get deselected by their local party first.

Dominic Grieve just lost his confidence vote earlier.

One down...

-------------------------------------------------

"It will be your decision whether to remain in the EU... or whether we Leave. your decision. Nobody else’s. Not politicians’. Not Parliament’s. Not lobby groups’. Not mine. Just you. You, the British people, will decide. And it will be the final decision."

David Cameron.
-------------------------------------------------

What did Brexiteers think "taking back control" meant? The very people they are complaining about are the people who wil be in charge when we leave. They have been elected by us in to a system of parliamentary democracy in a vote that post-dates the referendum. This is UK democracy in action, like it or not. Who did they think was going to run the country after we left? A bunch of gammons sitting round a table in a Weatherspoons?

When you say voting patterns you mean that areas with fewer immigrants voted leave right? Because that is the relationship with a few outliers. I was recently in Darlington for work and it was a massive leave place. It is the perception of immigration rather than the reality!
