So what you're saying is, we're taking back control by relying on other countries changing their rules to make it easier for us. Marvelous.

No, it’s up to countries to make their own decisions……Portugal made theirs.

“By opening their e-gates to British travellers, Portugal is sending a message that it does not intend to prioritise EU tourists at the border, defying Brexit rules in the process.”

Now we have a choice, got to France with their new Byzantine entry rules or open minded Portugal.

I would recommend Vilamoura……

Indeed. Countries that make entry easier attract visitors and business. It's a very good point. Lost on you, but a good one.

And how much closer have Turkey got to EU membership since you posted this over 6 years ago

What influence has the electorate had in this country about anything significant that the EU has done in recent years, or intends to do in the future?

The effects of the EU's mismanagement of Its borders are now coming home to roost with the same old solution of more Europe needed. This solution now means further expansion of the EU to include Turkey........who the f**k has sold this to the EU electorate? Do you think we will get a vote?

Influence you say..........you must be f**king mental.

You really don't help yourself do you :dunce:

And you seem to be really struggling for a Brexit benefit since Nige and Boris are no longer around feeding you quotes :lolol:

You must be delighted though that this week we're getting the French state to build us a £20B Nuc.

TAKING BACK CONTROL

Are you suggesting we wouldn’t have used EDF if we stayed in EU or are you just making a broader pint that we import stuff from abroad? Hard to tell.

Its good your engaging on current stuff rather than digging up articles from a decade and a half ago.

Just great to see the government taking back control and getting a company owned by an EU member state to build our infrastructure.

Anyway, best behave on that signed TCA and not do anything silly or it could be pricey

Wait, countries in the EU do have control over how they let people in?

Absolutely, tourists need to get to Portugal, they are being far more pragmatic.

https://www.euronews.com/travel/202...y-to-ignore-brexit-and-fast-track-uk-tourists

It’s up to the frenchies isn’t it……make it hard for British tourists or make easy like to Portuguese.

EU solidarity innit.

This isn’t completely true though. Yes you can use the egate but then you have to wait to have your documents checked and stamped….like you would if you were in the regular immigration queue. You can’t just swan off after using the gate like EU passport holders can. What exactly is the gain?

I’m not of the impression that Cunning is ever after anything remotely factual.:lolol:

When even your whataboutery doesn't stand up to a little scrutiny, you'd think the pure embarrassment may discourage him from posting quite so regularly :dunce:

But I'll bet he doesn't and the buffoonery continues. What wonderful entertainment :clap::clap:

You have been in der Bund too long kamerad……..other places don’t always play by the rules.

I am just back from a short trip there and no stamps in my passport, straight in and straight out…….just as the article points out.

“Portugal is the first country to abandon the EU’s Brexit rules of manual checks for UK citizens. Other countries that depend on UK tourists, like Spain and France, may follow suit to boost their inbound travel numbers.”

A wise man once said……Rules are for the blind obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men…….good on the wisdom of the Portuguese.

I am off to Malta soon, apparently they have taken a similar approach based on the experience of people I know who have been there recently……..they are more hush hush but then they have experienced the rage of the major EU powers in the past aint they?

Why should there be any need to “take back control” in the first place?

Why would any democratic country chose to be wrapped up by policies or dictates that are enforced by an unelected institution and which have not been approved by their democratically elected Government……..

No need for answers on a post card.

Jeez, given the comparative volume of our contributions, there is only one winner there?

Only a dunce would seek to make that point…..but then empty vessels eh?
