'And with trade with Japan accounting for just 2% of the UK's total, the expected boost to GDP of 0.07% over the long term is a tiny fraction of what might be lost from leaving the EU'.

I lost a thousand quid this morning, but I just found 20p, so im well happy.

Just arrived back in chaos isle after a few weeks in sunnier southern European climes

Well well a trade deal with Japan, apparently its worth £15BN over an indeterminate period and adds up to 0.07% of GDP, still don't knock this. This a lot more than UK fish is worth

So I assume with a more nimble trade policy its better than the one Japan struck with the EU?

Is there anything new we will be able sell tariff free after Jan 2021?

Enjoy your two weeks of solitary[emoji23]

Can't wait to see how much cheese Liz Truss has managed to sell to a nation which doesn't eat cheese

Delighted with our new trade deal with Japan. :O

Best bit of Brexit news since the tea towel and the 50p piece. We will now have the same deal with Japan that we had when we were in the EU - I hope you're celebrating

I could, of course point out that the only bit of Brexit good news since is that we look like we've actually managed to maintain a tiny percentage of what we had in the EU anyway, but that would just be churlish :lolol:

"And there is good reason for Japan cooperating to ensure this deal was secured in record time. It stands to get the lions share, 80%, of the total estimated £15bn boost to trade for both countries."

It will be useful to see the full details of this deal. It seems, potentially, to be a little one-sided.

Did they manage to keep some tariffs on Nissan's and Toyota's coming from Japan to protect Sunderland and Derby?
