That's "resigned" in the sense of being sacked.

Alway seemed like an odd appointment taking him to the Premier after Sheff Wed couldn't wait to see the back of him.

Chairman Brian Kilby told the Burnley website: "I have telephoned Brian today and asked him to step down as manager of Burnley Football Club. "Everyone is naturally disappointed and frustrated that recent results have not gone as we would have hoped.

"The board of directors has decided that we need a fresh approach in order to achieve our goal of returning to the Premier League." "

Two points off the playoffs and in 9th position.

And the way Bolton are playing. Unfortunately I fear that Chelsea at home will win, possibly easily and could be the start of their ressurection.
