saying on Twitter that he has been "suspended".

WTF can that be about? I thought he did okay on the football side but suspensions are usually disciplinary ???

Yup you're right Springal - "comments made to the media" apparently - now rumoured that the owners are putting the club up for sale

This is from 3 days ago - hardly seems cause to suspend him?

HULL CITY: No split over Tigers' future, says Barmby | This is Hull and East Riding

HULL City boss Nick Barmby insists there is no danger of a rift developing between himself and the club's board ahead of their eagerly-anticipated budget meeting next week.

The Tigers sign off an encouraging campaign when they travel to West Ham United tomorrow, but it is an imminent get-together of the club's hierarchy that will have the greatest bearing on City's future.

Together with head of football operations Adam Pearson, Barmby will sit down with owners Assem and Ehab Allam early next week to draw up plans for the 2012-13 season.

Barmby has already called for a show of support in the summer transfer market and challenged the Allam family to match his long-term ambitions as City boss.

In reply, the Allams, who have already pledged £51m since pulling the Tigers back from the financial brink 17 months ago, have so far been tight-lipped over their plans, but Barmby believes there is no division forming at the KC Stadium.

"The relationship I have with the owners is great," Barmby told the Mail.

"There's no one as thankful for what they did than me.

"I've not been vocal to upset anyone. People can read into it and say there's a split but there isn't a split.

"What the owners have done for this club is unbelievable, everyone knows that and we'll be forever grateful for that.

"From a footballing point of view we've got the makings of a very good side – we can all see that.

"We won't be silly with transfers and we'd never put this club at risk. Those days are gone and the owners know that. All we want is the best for this club, that's all we want."

Reading here though, seems like this might be another case of dodgy owners with nothing more than making a profit at heart.

Barmby suspended

"So it looks like our saviours have revealed their true colours. They wanted the club so they could get the ground and the land around it on the cheap.
Now they can't they've got no interest in spending a bean and they want out.
Why do we always get 'em? Come back Don Robinson!"

"Just my thoughts but.... The Allams paid off £50m of debt with the underlying motive of getting hold of the club and KC Stadium and making their money back via the Sports Village. I can live with that - we should always be grateful for the debt clearance.

But when they didn't get their way with the council they lost all interest in the club, threw their toys out of the pram and refused any more funds. Culminating in today's apparent decision to put the club up for sale, if true. Thus showing they've never really had the club's true interests at heart.

Suspending Barmby though is utterly shocking and that I think is the point where the line will be crossed with most fans. Ridiculous decision if it is the case."

It's tightness, but not as it seems. The HCFC board decided they didn't want him as manager during the really bad run they had, and they want to get rid of him without paying any compensation. Apparently.

Makes you realise how lucky we are to have Bloom at our club. Can you imagine how Hull's owners would have reacted to Poyet basically saying "buy players or else", as he did to Bloom? This new wave of football club owners are only in it for an ego-boost, we're so fortunate to have a chairman whose interest in our club goes further than self-aggrandisement.

Barmby's a Hull legend and should not be treated like this. (Disclaimer- I don't have a "second club" but if I did it'd probably be Hull, as I used to go to the odd game when I was a student up there. Mostly to cheer them on against any team that looked vaguely like threatening our title run in 2000. Quite weird now to think both clubs were Division 3 strugglers for a while!)

Meopham, Kent.
Sounding like carnage up there. As JetsetJimbo says, it does remind us how lucky we are to have a stable set-up with Tony Bloom.

Wasn't trying to imply some kind of rift, I was just using shorthand to refer to those comments he made about how important it was for the chairman to buy new players to keep Vicente; a comment that I feel probably wouldn't have gone down as well with a less-understanding chairman like Hull's. It was quite widely reported at the time, if you missed it check in the Albion in the News forum. Not quite sure what you're saying I have to "back up" there, all I'm saying is that it would have been less well received elsewhere which of course I can't prove without getting the Hull chairman to share his thoughts. I take it you've never posted a single word of conjecture on the internet, ever?

As you can see, explaining that in full took quite a lot of text, I thought people would know what I was referring to.

Well the "or else" seems to suggest Poyet went to Bloom and said, "buy players, or I am offski". A lot of people complain about Poyet's constant comments re: budgets etc, but I reckon he and Tony have a very, very good working relationship.
