Reports now on SKY news saying the plane did send a message saying they had strong turbulence and they did send a message reporting they had a 'Electrical Short Circuit' unsurprising really considering they were flying near the inter tropical conversion zone.

According to Sky they sent the message at 2.33 am / 3.14am GMT (conflicting reports)

The thing I always try to think when on European flights is that, for example, even if all the engines packed up at once, would you not always be close enough to an airport that you could land safely?

I'm off to America next week, so need to try and think of something else to feel safe......

People will be extra vigilant with their technical checks before take off.

But still, why start the search from the Brazilian side? If, and I know it's just an IF, it went missing at 6am then I would guess it's somewhere near the west coast of Africa, not sodding Brazil.

Radio 2 news said it flies over Brazil for 4 hours before it crosses the atlantic.

Thats utter tosh from there behalf, Rio is on the Brazilian coast it flies along the coast until natal, then turns eastwards towards the Atlantic.
