End of an era. Thanks for all the memories Danny; from the loan signing who looked 'quite decent', to THAT header against Chesterfield, and the Play-off Final in Cardiff. You are an Albion legend, and will be missed.

But football goes on. We more than survived without Zamora, and we'll survive without Sir Danny. I expect Virgo will get slotted into the back three tonight, and Knight will start up front with McCammon. Charlie for Captain, he always gives extra when he's Captain.

I'm looking forward to the game now!!

:)

Good luck in the future Danny
I think it was a cracking deal for the Albion to get good money for a player who is out of contract soon and the highest paid player at the club.

Shame to see him go, but it wasn't a bad bit of business and we can't afford to turn it down so it's no surprise really

Thanks for a great 5 years with us and All the best to Cullip

Allegedly from a source at the forty notes fund Cullip and Knight were earning £9000 a week. (the forty notes fund saw player contracts before handing over money so they knew where it was being spent.) so we can assume that dick knights claim that danny was offered an improved deal may have seen him be the first 5 figure salary at the club. therefore 250k-whilst minimal- represents double value for money with the extra pressure of wages released.
that having been said it is a sad day made even sadder because we didnt get to say goodbye to one of the best players iv'e ever witnessed at this club.

Absolutley, if he stayed at went on £10k a week that represents a £210,000 (plus employers NI another £25K) almost doubles the benefit between now and May. Plus another £50K if S Utd reach the playoffs

Falmer
I don't think we be paying any of our players 10k a week for a long, long time.

I can understand Danny going, wanting to play at a decent ground, in front of 20,000 fans etc, etc, but when I stood next to him on the pitch at Grimsby and he was in tears, I thought that maybe he would always want to stay and be a Brighton player and fight the good fight.

The wanting to play in front of 20,000 fans is a manufactured quote for the Falmer campaign.....the departure of Currie & Cullip to bigger clubs gives DK yet more ammo in the debate about whether the club can survive without Falmer.

Incidentally, I'm sure Danny DOES want to play in front of 20,000 fans - but the size of Brammal Lane is not the real reason he left.

Cheers Danny you're an Albion legend. Sorry to see you go but thats life. Good luck for the future.

Lets hope we don't have to lose any more players now.

Good luck to Sheffield Utd for the rest of the season, except on the the 15th Jan. Lets hope they can earn us at least another £50,000.

Very, very sad but not unexpected. He's been an absolute legend for us and will be sorely missed, on and off the pitch. But no bitterness, Danny you've been superb for us so all the best at Sheff United.

PS. There's no way we were paying him 9 grand a week. 5 tops.

We have other players to replace him at centre back. Virgo and Hinshelwood for example. The hard work and effort being put into the youth team set up are now bearing fruit, and I believe that these up and coming players will now rise to the challenge.

Firstly, good luck Danny, hope you do get to play in the championship.

As for youngsters to replace him, in time they will, however with DC gone, it's going to be very quiet along that back line. Danny was a talker, and that is what will be missed more than any of his other qualities.

Once again, best wishes Danny

Just heard about this, been buried in work all week. Gutted. All my fave albion pictures has Danny waving his fists or holding up a cup of some sort. That looks somewhat moot now.

Well said. In the meantime, Guy Butters will have to take that responsibilty - to get the defence organised.

I think the other issue is how the squad reacts to the captain and leader in the dressing room etc going. Every manager post Adams has confirmed that the spirit of the players is the best they've ever known so I'm hoping that comaradie will remain in tact, if a little dented. This is why, for all his footballing limitations, Charlie Oatway has an important role to play to keep morale up.

Yes. And the good news is that he and his family are well settled in the area and are unlikely to be going anywhere, unlike Danny who never really moved away from - Bracknell was it?

...Good luck Danny and many thanks for all you have done. No player could have been more committed and I for one fully understand your reasons for going. And with Warnock saying nice things about us and extra money on offer, Sheff U may well become my second team for the season.

OK - /me sits back and waits for flaming about being overly optimistic and never criticising the club etc, etc.

TGC, I can agree with everything you've said with the exception of Sheff U as a second team. I don't have a second team. Quote, DK: "There is no Plan B."

Good Luck DC. We wouldn't be here without you. I wish you what you wish yourself.
