Lewis Hamilton to start from 2nd on the grid, with Felipe Massa on pole Raikkonen in 3rd, Alonso in 4th.

Good qualifying result for Hamilton, being in front of his two title rivals.

Bring on tomorrow afternoon.

The advantage he may have is that there's always the chance of them taking each other out in their haste to make a move on him.

If he gets a decent start, he can get himself ahead of those two scrapping with each other and use it to his advantage.

im very scared that massa will OWN hamilton tommorow, to assist raikkanen(sp?) ofcourse. either he will slow do the whole back if leading to help him out or may even just take him out. ferraris PERFECT situation would be for both raik and massa to be infront of hamilton, then he has no chance whatsoever.

If Hamilton gets a good start he'll be comfortable second, Massa will want to win his home GP, come on, he's not Schumacher! Its nigh on unthinkable that 3 cars will all crash out at the start, Hamiltons only worry is Alonso doing something stupid. Alonso is a cheating liability so don't rule it out, he knows he's not the best, never has been in my opinion, he can't deal with it, and thats the problem.

given the history of the BRazilian GP a clean start by all and just running a tidy race is probably the best bet. the weather, mechanical failure ( suspension/tyres) etc will punish the foolhardy

go Lewis is all I can say.

as an aside, I just got back from SIlverstone Historic sports car club final race meeting, spent the morning in race control, fascinating work behind the scenes and awesome racing on the track.

would kill the anticipation of the race if the championship was decided with a crash in the first turn...can see it happening

I can see Massa moving over to block Lewis so Kimi gets up the inside (presuming Pole starts on the left at Brazil which I believe it does), well thats one theory of the start. The other is for Massa to take the lead and slow the chasing pack down enough for Kimi to take a move on Lewis and grab second, then he'll let him pass and hope Lewis & Alonso crash out or something!

Either way F1 is finally getting be exciting again...first time in the Post-Senna Era IMO.

Lewis could allow Massa and Raikenon(sp) to race off and get 1st and 2nd and make sure that he is the winner of the next pack .

What would happen if he was 4th and Alonso 3rd would he still be champion.

How Alonso can become champion

* Should Alonso win the race, he would need for Hamilton to be on the bottom step of the podium or lower to take the title.
* If Alonso is in second position after the 71 laps, Hamilton would have to be in sixth position or lower.
* If Alonso takes third, he would need to Hamilton to only secure one point and for Raikkonen not to win.
* If Alonso is fourth, Hamilton would have to not score any points, with Raikkonen also not on the top two steps of the podium.

How Hamilton can become champion

* Hamilton takes either of the top two steps on the Interlagos podium, no matter where Alonso and Raikkonen finish.
* If Alonso wins the race, Hamilton has to take second place behind his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team-mate.
* If Alonso comes second, Hamilton would need to take the chequered flag in third or fourth position.
* If Hamilton is in fifth position, he would need for Alonso to finish out of the top two. It does not matter where Raikkonen ends the race.
* If Hamilton finishes sixth or seventh, he would need for Alonso to finish out of the top two and for Raikkonen not to win.
* If Hamilton finishes in the final points paying position of eighth, the only way he can take the title is for Alonso to finish out of the top three and for Raikkonen to finish out of the top two.
* Should Hamilton retire from the race or score no points, then he would need for Alonso to finish in fifth or below and for Raikkonen to be in third or below.

How Raikkonen can become champion
* Raikkonen would need to win the race, with Alonso and Hamilton finishing out of the top two and five respectively.
* If Raikkonen takes second position, then he would need Hamilton to only take one point and for Alonso to be out of the top three.
