Please join us for the first in the series of ‘Brains at the Bevy’ talks.
Subject: ‘NO to Modern Football’
Speaker: Mark Doidge
Venue : The Bevy, 50 Hillside, Brighton, BN2 4TF
Date: Wednesday 25th May 2016
Time: 6pm
An outcome of the Hillsborough tragedy was the Taylor Report that imposed new stadiums on football clubs. This occurred in parallel to a more commercial approach from clubs, the Premier League and the Champions League.
Many fans have rebelled against these changes under the banner of ‘No to Modern Football’ and this talk will account for this movement, in the context of the global economic transformation of football.
It will also highlight how this is finding local expression at Whitehawk and Lewes (and other Sussex clubs).
These talks are open to all and are organised by the university's Community University Partnership Programme in collaboration with the Bevy, and are funded by the Sussex Learning Network.
Please RSVP to cupp@brighton.ac.uk
