Twats. Shock horror, they have voted to strike the day when the mist hangovers are knocking around.

Don't they always vote for a strike just to have a day off?

We are driving up that day.

so basically all those who criticised him, did so without any reason other than they dont like him because he leads a trade unions.

And they expect to be listened to. Why?

Triple time maybe, (most people get double time) but a day off in lieu is taking the piss. Do Policemen and clinicians get extra cash for working a bank holiday ?

i thought fair enough for Sunday boxing day at first. but apparently their current agreement is for weekends and holidays to be at normal pay, as part of the last settlement they made. so they should suck it up, they agreed to that.

No, they don't dislike him because he is a Union leader.

They dislike him because he ballots his members to have strikes numerous times a year for spurious reasons causing massive inconvenience to tens if not hundreds of thousands of people. That is why people do not like him.

Police get double time.

Triple is rather taking the piss I feel, it's hardly like the Millennium NYE or anything. I don't know about the Tube drivers, but they rarely struggle to cover bank holidays in the police as there are pretty much always enough people who want the overtime. We just operate on minimum staffing levels.

You know when you join the job that the chances are you'll end up working some bank holidays. Doesn't usually bother me. I'm doing every one over Christmas and New Year this time, but then some of the guys on my team (mainly those with young families) aren't doing any because they'd rather have the time to spend with the wife & kids. Fine with me

seeing as how he is elected and emploeyed to serve the interest of his members and them ONLY, I'd say he's doing a good job. However this time it wasnt him.

That is very very much open to debate, I cannot think of a union leader more despised by the general public than Crow (and that cannot be good for his union) I really don't think he is doing a good job as his mulitiple strike days a year policy is just wearing very thin, because he calls for a strike ballot for so much, how do we the general public know what is a geniune grievance and what isn't.

You could argue he was doing a good job if you are 0.01% of the population and are a tube/train driver (and even then he may not if you keep on losing days pays for going on strikes, what is the point in striking for an extra 1-2% in salary increase when you probably lose that and more for the days you have to strike for it), but if you are the rest of the population then how is what he is doing good, in any way shape or form? Especially in this economic time where so many of us are unsecure in our positions, is at risk of redundancy etc. etc. Maybe you can understand why there is such little sympathy for Crow and his gripes.

In this case I agree shock, horror it wasn't Crow whom called the strike. But I am certain it won't be long before he demands a ballot for another one for something else.
