He was very good for Ajax, massive talent at that stage, but didn't want to renew his contract so they were desperate to move him on. Ended up in Roma, where career goes to die, and that was a massive blunder (think he has said himself he shouldn't have left Ajax so early). I'm in the "late bloomer" camp because he showed right from the start in Ajax that he could/should be a top class player.

Some people just prefer being a big fish in a very small pond, where you're the undisputed king of the shallow end and all the other fish scuttle around deferentially, bringing you plankton to feed on as they admire your glorious iridescent scales. As soon as you release them into the sea, however, they end up floating lifeless and dead-eyed on the surface, bobbing around on the tide as the great white sharks clrcle. The official medical name for it is Wilfried Zaha Syndrome.

I think the Joao Pedro case is one where he should not get the penalty in the best of worlds, since he's (as usual, unfortunately) more keen on getting the penalty than getting a shot off. But strictly following the rules, I think its a pen (and I'm not someone looking at ref decisions with tinted glasses).

The Van Hecke situation is never a penalty.
He was pushed in the back. That's why he collided with the keeper.

I live round here too - not sure which smug Cottagers you deal with day to day but it's the Chelsea fans I can't stand!
I run a pre/post match Fulham boozer. But you’re right, a large majority of Chelsea fans that drink here are entitled twats!
