Absolute disgrace as the transaction is authourised on line therefore the card acquirers fee is minimal and no where near £2.

You could call it a BHAFC tax..........

2% tops I'd say so it should be about 50p per ticket plus postage.

Profiteering without a doubt imo.

I forgot to send a SAE when I applied for tickets for the away game at Leeds last month and they didn't charge me any extra. Having said that I have previously been charged p&p fees when sending off a SAE.

Exactly the same with me. I tend to include an SAE but have been charged sometimes and not others.

I buy tickets for several games at once over the phone, but sometimes do this by postal application instead if it coincides with cup or away games. I've never bought online.

So far this season I haven't been charged the £2 booking fee for the phone bookings. That hasn't been the case in the past though.

This inconsistency seems to be one of the problems.

The credit/debit card companies charge on average about 12p for online verification to confirm the transaction will be ok. They also charge a commission of around 2.5% as a transaction fee. The card transaction fee often works out a better deal for the business concerned than handling cash as this would mean higher banking fees. If there wasn't a £2 "tax" for booking tickets over the phone then this option wouldn't be available and the only ways to purchase would be online , by post or in person. The ticket office staff wages have to paid somehow and part of the "tax" goes towards it.

If the credit card companies or VISA/MASTERCARD make these charges then why are they only passed onto customers who make their ticket purchases online or over the phone.

I have purchased goods online from the club shop and I am sure i was not charged any additional fees for paying by card
