Booking fee con

Who else feels this is a con?

I have asked the club for clear rules on how this fee is applied as in my case it appears to have been applied a bit randomly. In some case it feels like they encourage a market to enable them to charge £2.

I see it as profiteering.

I understand that postage has to be paid, envelope, and someone writing the address on.

But that doesn't equate to £2 unless you want to profit from the exercise.

I would happily pay a £1 to cover the above.

Absolute disgrace as the transaction is authourised on line therefore the card acquirers fee is minimal and no where near £2.

You could call it a BHAFC tax..........

I was going to buy some tickets online and as soon as it said there'd be a £2 booking fee I terminated the transaction. Absolute rip-off

I appreciate that ticket agencies need to charge fees for handling tickets but given one of BHAFC's main functions IS selling match day tickets it is a con to charge you for the privilege.

It is a con, but doubt that it stops anyone buying a ticket though? and I am sure all other clubs do it??

That said I would more than happy if they scrapped it :clap2:

.....or perhaps 'a tip' to pay for chairmans bubbly....

Actually I don't have a problem with it. It is normal to pay a booking fee when buying tickets that are going to be posted to you. Many organisations charge more than that. If BHAFC were not acting in a commercial manner, I would be very concerned .

My £18 Hartlepool ticket has just cost me £20. Hey ho; up the Albion!

the tickets are ALREADY too expensive without the stupid booking fee!

I agree, and would have expected the tkts to be £15 for this game.. but FA Cup games are usually priced in agreement with both clubs, so this could be HUFC's fault.

It aint gonna be a sellout that's for sure!

see post from otk above. How many more are out there?

Fair point, but I doubt its enough to make the club not gain overall.

i.e it needs one in ten to chose not to continue for the club to lose out

However it is just another thing on top of a pretty record on the tickets that gives the club a bad name.

Yep a solitary quid would seem fairer

I've always thought it was the case that they charged a booking fee, that's why i always pop into the shop and get my tickets.
Also knowing that i will definitely have the ticket in hand than wonder if it might get lost in the post is also an added bonus.

I'm going to see Fulham v Newcastle in a couple of weeks and paid a £2 booking fee, and am sure when i went to the Emirates cup that i also paid a fee aswell. So seems as if most clubs do it...

The credit/debit card companies charge on average about 12p for online verification to confirm the transaction will be ok. They also charge a commission of around 2.5% as a transaction fee. The card transaction fee often works out a better deal for the business concerned than handling cash as this would mean higher banking fees. If there wasn't a £2 "tax" for booking tickets over the phone then this option wouldn't be available and the only ways to purchase would be online , by post or in person. The ticket office staff wages have to paid somehow and part of the "tax" goes towards it.

My issue stems from sometimes incurring a fee for postal apps. I was a little frustrated at incurring a fee for postage when I had included an SAE. It appears this was done in error.

The ticket office have confirmed that if you apply by post with an SAE you dont get charged a booking fee. This seems fairer.

I forgot to send a SAE when I applied for tickets for the away game at Leeds last month and they didn't charge me any extra. Having said that I have previously been charged p&p fees when sending off a SAE.
