Time for Chicksen to leave also - if he can't be third choice left back (his specialist position) at 24, there can't be a future for him here. The fact that a new signing would walk straight into a top Championship team must mean we are in with a good chance of getting a great player.

I think we are probably missing Liam more than anyone else TBH.
:
I just looked at the League stats

With Bong and Rosenior available:
Played 13 Conceded 11

With Rosenior available:
Played 18 conceded 15

Without Bong or Rosenior avaialble:
Played 4 conceded 9

Ok so 3 of those games has been against tougher opposition, but it's still a fairly stark comparison.

A friend of mine had a chat with LR at the Boro game. He said he expected to be back before the end of the season.....

Doesn't sound as good as February at the earliest.

Yes, that's pretty conclusive. Even though Calde has done a good job filling in, we need a new LB - and a bl**dy good one at that!

Didn't someone say they spoke to him recently and he said back in January ? I think hes just been told not to discuss it

Not just LB IMHO.

The role Rosenior was playing (away from home and against tougher opposition) was a big part of the success we were having.
He was the ideal foil for Bruno in those games , sharing attacking and defensive responsibilities.

Could be. Whichever way it is, it will be good to have him back in the side. We are clearly missing him at the moment.

Have to be a loan, I think - to buy in two players of the quality of Bong and Rosenior would be expensive, and involve a chunk of wages too - and then we finish up paying big wages for spare players when Bong and Rosenior are fit again. It's going to be a very tricky balancing act.

Some clarity in The Argus.

Bong should be first team training end of Jan.
Liam not expected to be training until end of Feb.

So at least 6 weeks for Bong without any set backs, and potentially 10-12 weeks for Liam.

Ouch

Baldock is the only injured player we should expect to return soon it seems.

To be fair to Calde, most of those goals came from set pieces and the other side of the pitch to him. However, with a bit more quality in the LB position, who's to say we wouldn't have had a bit more joy attacking down that side of the pitch.

Of the 9 goals conceded in last 4, 4 were from corners (5 if you include pen at Derby) and 2 were from LW crosses, so think the stat is somewhat dodgy on purely LB defensive grounds. TBH, think Calde is doing OK. Perhaps more to the point is that they linked well with wingers, and LR in particular is versatile. Agree with other posters that Murphy seems less effective without FB support

yes agreed that Calde is not the weak link, he's doing as well as can be expected (probably better)
The point I was making is that I think we are missing LR more than anyone else IMO. His absence tends to get overlooked in most of the threads on here.
