Hope he stays - still don't rate him (as most Palace fans were saying a month ago) and think he's still the man to take them down eventually

Amazing what a few wins does. Palace were largely terrible last season and started this season badly too. Five or six wins later and he's suddenly the next big thing? Surely clubs aren't stupid enough to judge a manager on five or six games, after previous mediocrity.

Palace can't really lose here. If he goes, well he's nothing special, and can easily be replaced, and they can use their current mini-run to convince potential new managers that they're a better proposition than they actually are. If he stays, their board will tell the fans that it's because he loves it at Selhurst (hehe), and they've heroically resisted against all the odds...yes, Bolton Wanderers ...to persuade their star man to stay because they're such a good proposition.

Me, I can't see him going unless Bolton offer him a ridiculous pay rise (he is Scottish, after all). Otherwise, he's got to uproot his family to the north, all for a club that has only marginally better long term prospects than Palace. Some clubs, no doubt he'd be off like a shot, but I'm not convinced Bolton are that much of a temptation.

It's Bolton ffs, I hate Palace as much as the next man on here but BOLTON?

I really thought that Freedman had some sort of morals/scruples etc, money does indeed talk in this strange and fascinating world of football.

He's gone hasn't he? CPFC2010 have obviously been promised a good deal on the compensation.

We've had it constantly rammed down our throats from the Palace goons how Poyet is on his way at the drop of a hat, and how super-loyal their manager is... and now this is unfolding...

Doesn't that make it all the better though. If he went somewhere vastly better it would be understandable. The fact that it is somewhere less appealing is great!

Agreed word for word, although he hasnt actually moved yet - we need to remember that. Good step up for him though if he went to Bolton (well, nicer stadium anyway).

He won't leave, as he said this only last Friday:

"I'm halfway to getting Crystal Palace the way I want it to be. I'm not the sort of guy to leave jobs half done."

(He's also not the sort of man to sign Glen Murray I recall...)

Sideways move IMO.

He's doing alright at Palace, and I can't see Bolton's current squad offering much more than Palace's at the moment.

If I was a Palace fan, I'd be worried in January if he comes swooping for Zaha and a few others. Parish may want to use the compensation money wisely.

Interesting to say the least, and now I have 15 minutes to kill until home time to read up on this.
