I'm sick of all this 'England should copy the Spanish model, England should copy the way Spain play, England should play their young like Germany, England are 10 years behind Europe, England need to look at how Holland and Portugal play.

I say bollox to all that. Get Allardyce in NOW and let's play the English way. Long and direct if that's our way. Let's stop trying to make English players foreign. Like 66, like 45 for that matter.

Yes.....then the tiny remaining bit of interest I have in the national team will be completely eradicated and I will care no more. Not a jot as they say.

I wouldn't put it past the FA. Go back a few years, Cloughie was the overwhelming fans/press favourites for the England job, and didn't get it. The same people are probably still at the FA, I wouldn't be surprised if Harry didn't get it.

Appointing managers like Allardyce is a part of why we haven't won anything for the thick end of half a century and aren't that likely to any time soon. The FA need to understand that football has moved on and evolved, and we've been left sadly behind.

If (God forbid) Allardyce got it, we might as well just not sodding well bother at all.

About the only way England are gonna have any chance on the world stage against half decent opposition is gonna be to adopt the Stoke/Wimbledon style..imo. Until we get the basics right with kids we have no chance of lookig anything but mugs against teams like Spain in games that matter so let's revert to the old fashioned way of playing. It doesn't matter who manages us we cannot compete technically but we can bully the gifted opposition

Has the OP not noticed how since Brighton stopped playing hoofball and started passing to each other, results have improved somewhat?

But we have foreign players, i think you're only allowed one or two of them in the England team.

we've tried playing "the english way" for decades and, with a couple of exceptions, we've been f***ing awful

"big sam" would be the worst england manager of all time

We are talking about a man who has the most expensive side in the championship which is full players who should be in the premier league and he should be romping the league but he doesn't get the best out of those players. I would hate to see him as England manager.

It would be like Mike Bassett but in real life.
