Of all the "Oh I wish I'd seen...", and there are many when you get to my age (amiright NSC?), I did get to see this lovely fella in the early 90s. Small-ish in-the-round venue, just him on a slowly revolving stage and a little table and a telephone. I remember very little but the memory of joy and awestruckness remains.

Yes, very old but I'm still sad. He was one of a kind and unlike a lot of his contemporaries his stuff from the sixties is still funny today. (Ditto his compatriot from that same era, Stan Freberg). Last performances of him I saw was as 'Professor Proton' in The Big Bang Theory.

Very clever and funny, did have an LP "best of of his. His act was basically talking to himself and I can't avoid a smile ....particularly the "......you put it in your mouth and set light to it.!."...

Loved his sitcom and then his glorious cameo as Professor Proton in BBT. Very sad, a great American comedian.
