Anyone remember the following shops:

Squires in Western Road not far from the Churchill Sq and roughly oppo M&S.

In my time it was 'the place' to get your clobber.

Stunning Rags right the other end oppo and near Waitrose.

Really wide boy sales man..almost a pre-runner of the 'Suits you' catchphrase. They had a sister shop near the clock tower on Queens Road however I forget the name.

The poky little shops in Air st.

Peter Brown on the London Road near the Northern Pub. Always felt a bit second best.

Was the sister shop not called Imagination? Would be just about opposite the Albion shop. You would go in there to buy a belt and they would try and sell you a suit. Really high-pressure selling. Was mugged into buying a dodgy pair of farah slacks once. Never went in there after that. You could not get out of there without buying something.

How soon is now?
AA Baker in London Road or David Rose in Dyke Road for your Albion kit.

I used to Q outside David Rose for their January sales where all the window soiled trainers were on sale for £1 a pair - you'de get a years worth of trainers for a tenner and a few sun bleached fila t-shirts for a couple of quid each.

Shame Wisdens in Duke St wern't so generous in the new year!!!!

The Old Holingbury Park GC for your Munsingwear and Pringles. The shop had a unique smell of wool

Yep IMAGINATION it was...the salesman was a Stewart Gordon ( I think ) of Sammy Gordon fame ( Sammy was the Father I think ).

Was it Mancinis in North Street where you could get some blinding abstract shirts in polyester !! and what was the place just at the start of Bond Street ( not Badgers )???

Sammy Gordon! I spent the whole of the rest of my lunch break trying to remember the name of that shop. Was that the one on North Road in that row of shops between Hanningtons & Vokins? Always looked the place to go if you were a car dealer or bookie and fancied a lemon-coloured cashmere tank top.

For those of us a little older do you remember the youth clothes shop called "Colt" that used to be in the old Churchill Square near the food supermarket on the lower level which escapes my memory

bingo! Beat me to it. I used to get kitted out there in the '70s. Was there not a girl's clothes shop next door called Fillies? I think the supermarket on the lower level was the original Tescos in Brighton.

My Mum used to take us there as well, happy days - don't remember fillies though
