But tell me NSC weather experts, is it unusual to get a thunderstorm in November in the UK?

Not a bad heading Tim, although 'overhead' should be one word. Yes ML (Major League) thunder claps last night, thought the missus had been on the beans again - nothing like a Dutch blanket to get you off to sleep!

Yep that one at 12.30 was a monster, thought the strike was very close, this stormy autumn/winter weather is getting worse, they did warn of wet/wild but mild winters from now on but i reckon they are going downhill fast.
And of course putting an extra tax on anything the government can think of is going to help, if global warming really is to blame - too late boys, its done and you can't change it, 'Blade Runner' weather here we come.

Nope! We normally get quite a few along the coast in Autumn due to the temp differential between the sea temp and the air temp, the bigger the diff the more chance of a Storm (in a nutshell!)

Thanks Greens :(
I was driving at 2am. in central Btn., and there was loads of lightning, which seemed to be a long way away, but very little accompanying thunder!? Was it that it was so far away, it was inaudible? Meteorology isn't my thang tbh...

Meteorology is my thang, and you can't hear it because it takes 5 seconds for the thunder to travel a mile, meaning anything more than 5 or 6 miles away will take so long to get there it'll have got too quiet or mixed in with other noise. And you can see a lot further than 5 or 6 miles.

At 12.45pm last night (I know the exact time because it woke me up and I looked at the clock) it started raining SO hard my parents' car alarm went off.

TRUE STORY.
