My favourite photo of the storms in Scotland today, plus a few others on the link if you're interested. Some of the others on the page are slightly less epic (some woman up a stepladder taking a sign down, for example...er...what?) but I do like the idea of a wind farm catching fire in the, er, wind.

I don't mind the rain but the wind is horrible. Tree on the line near Balcombe earlier to mess up the trains; any excuse.

I thought you could 'lock' those Turbines when the winds got to strong to prevent exactly that sort of thing from happening.

It appears to be facing the wrong way, so maybe it's been trying to spin backwards against the brake.

I thought you could 'lock' those Turbines when the winds got to strong to prevent exactly that sort of thing from happening.

I'd imagine the brake can fail due to forces, or depending on type the fire could have been from excess friction?
