First half of book, the 'trenches' bit, is unbelievable, the 2nd half 'relationship' bit, not quite so...i fear Mr TV will have more on the latter

The book is a must read for anyone interested in World War One.

There is no way this drama will match the quality of the book, but I will be watching none-the-less.

Am studying the book at the moment for A level. Will be interesting to see how true the film remains to it, somehow can't see some of the more.. ahem err.. raunchy moments making the cut.

Are you studying Birdsong as your choice or is it on the cirriculum? If so then English has got a damn sight more interesting than when I studied.

Rather unsure about tonight, one of my favourite novels not sure how it will be portrayed on the box..

The topic area is WW1 literature so its Birdsong, Journey's End, My Boy Jack and a poetry anthology. Interesting on the coursework side, exam side not so much.

It was pretty good and fleur de la court from Harry potter flashed her bits.

A bit moody and stary for me, but the action scenes were good and acting extremely good.

Looking forward to next Sunday

Hmmm. I am going to shelve this as a 'take it for what it is and forget about the book'. Always unwise to go into a production and start thinking 'that is not how I imagined Lisette'.

Over there
I Recorded birdsong and watched 127 hours on channel 4. Not seen it before, heard it was good and wasn't disappointed, it was bloody brilliant.
And as a bonus it finished just in time to watch match of the day.
Good times :)

I was very, very wrong :lolol:

In general not impressed with the adaptation as the characters seem to vary massive from the books and there are large and crucial parts missing.

You very rarely get an adaptation that stays true to the book whether TV or film.

Am I the only person that doesn't rate the book that highly? Admittedly I read it with high expectations as it's always spoken of so highly but it never really got under my skin. Can someone explain just why it's so good, there must be something that I'm missing.
