Billy Bragg doesn't have my shirt anymore...

It is currently sitting on my desk, having got it back off him this morning.

We had a bit of a chat on the phone, saying he was very impressed with the turnout on Monday, and the welcome he received from well-wishers and people appreciating his support - he was grateful. He also wished us all the best in our quest for the stadium. He does have one request when we get to Falmer: can we change the bloody DJ from the person who does it at Withdean now? Sounds like professional showbiz bitching to me... :safeway2:

Anyway, he has signed it on the front ‘Viva Albion! Billy Bragg’. For those that care about this sort of thing, it’s a size XXL - which probably explains why the stripes are wider on me than they are on everyone else.

I am going to auction it asap to raise money for the Albion - I’ve just got to set up the right method of doing it.

I appreciate he is not everyone’s cup of tea, but for me, Bragg is a top bloke.

my old man said he'd bid but not much...which probably means he's out of the running already :D

I would certainly put in a bid.
I remember going to a Billy Bragg concert in Brighton during the 'troubles'. He made a comment along the lines of "If people like Bellotti and Archer had come along to West Ham, we would have strung them up by now!".

Will you auction it on NSC or are you intending to go to a broader audience? From a selfish point of view I hope you will keep it 'local' as I am up for bidding on this and believe that it would go for more if you went wider than NSC. However, if it helps raise a load of cash for the club a broader audiece would be more logical - I am prepared to be out bid for the sake of the Albion (big of me I'm sure you will agree).

OK, I'll put it on here first. I am also going to talk to the Argus today to see if they will run the story.

I have already had an opening bid of £60. Seriously. You can keep a track record of the highest bid in my signature on here. I will set a nominal closing date of 2pm on Friday October 22.

NB. If I don't get what I think is a satisfactory bid by then, I will put it out to wider tender.

I'll top that bid with £60.
He's a top bloke, I first saw him gig in the infamous Red Wedge tours in the 80's
