It’s not going anywhere so we have deal with what we have.

As a Brightonian whose family have used the RSCH all our lives, it’s fine.

That old chestnut of being boxed in by the sea and downs, as we saw with with the Amex, there were no swathes of available land here to build a new hospital and parking for 1,000’s of staff, patients and visitors.

Yet, I can remember the Women’s hospital in Buckingham Road, the old Children’s hospital in Dyke Road, Hove General, Bevendean Isolation hospital and the Brighton General as well as the Sussex County. All functioning and all with beds on wards.

Depends on disease site, but they would either go towards Redhill, Maidstone/Brighton or QVH.

The latest diagnostic initiative is Clinical Diagnostic Centres or CDC, so for Crowborough they could go to QVH for a CT/MRI for example or Bexhill. Interestingly, The Amex is a designated site as well, and often during the week there are mobile units on site.

Although there are still cottage hospitals and I believe a private clinic in Crowborough, there is simply not the specialist staff to spread about including nurses. I even wonder whether GP practices will eventually merge and have more nurse led clinics/triage, so only the most complex patients receive a GP discussion.

Ultimately, the NHS will need to move towards a pooled workforce (again IMO).

It will be interesting to see what a Starmer government would do. Hopefully not yet more restructuring and change for change sake. But real improvements in staffing and elsewhere, based on the invaluable input of professionals at the coal face. Mrs.W is a practitioner who by choice has had many roles, she sees so many inefficiencies and non sensical situations.

My Mum had full blown ops at the York Road and Sackville Road hospitals, I also remember cottage hospitals in Newhaven and Lewes. My uncle was treated for TB at the latter in the late 60’s.

Sussex and Brighton uni’s ate up further park land, woods and meadows in the 90’s and 00’s with barely a mention, because it was the kudos of higher education.

Whilst the ‘oiks game’ of football struggled next door, for an age. Not just the open opposition, I knew DK, there were some anti Albion snides in local government.

Not sure, though some training courses are more condensed to support quicker graduation.

There are more nurse led roles than when I started, which is positive providing they are paid.

Recently, there has been ‘another’ consultation on pensions, to encourage retired/retiring staff to return……

In all seriousness, how will the great day of his passing be celebrated? Will there be a minute's delirious celebration at the first available opportunity at the Amex?

I think the atmosphere at that first game will be amazing, sheer joy. I don't think about those people at all, but I certainly will be celebrating when they eventually drop off the earth. I really hope they feel some kind of shame every time we're spoken about on TV. Nice try, bastards, but here we are anyway.

I was born in the maternity hospital in Buckingham Road, now long gone. Having had recent experience of the RSCH and the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath, it's my opinion that the clinical staff are almost all miracle workers who are often up against dreadful administrators.

But what that bloke [and his two chums] did to OUR club, is more a case of "lest we forget".

I am still struggling with the fact that they took away the north stand roof, let alone Archer, Belloti etc.

What this club went through was painful, brutal and avoidable - all for the greed of one man and a couple of cretinous stooges. If it wasn’t for a stalwart collective of community activists/supporters, Dick Knight and some huge dollops of luck that this club even survived.

Bill Archer can rot in hell and I look forward to pissing on his grave. Scum.

I broadly agree with @Diallo on this. Whilst I haven’t, and never will, forgot, I have moved on. Things have turned out fine. And to quote Salman Rushdie “what happens tomorrow is more important than what happened yesterday.“.

i also feel what happened made us a better club, individually made us better people, and I met and made some good long term friends due to It.

Religion teaches not to hate though? Our country has laws based on Christianity which preaches not to hate. Isn’t not to hate actually one of the 10 commandments?. It’s bizarre how many people associate themselves as religious but excuse their faith when it comes to enjoying football.

PS I’m not religious by the way. Omnism is what I would say I respect.

Do i have to derail another thread to point out the Christian persecution of the gay community in this country? And I'm unaware of "Thou shall not hate" as being one of the 10 Commandments. Which is why, I presume, they carry on failing to acknowledge that the LGBTQ+ community deserve equal treatment as straight Christians.

Yes I do. I believe the core of most religions is a lot to do with expanding your consciousness through the connection it has with living in a positive, loving manner.
