Interesting post. Amazing to see the likes of Charlton up there. Was a long time ago though. Reckon we'll ever beat that record? Would need a change in the law re standing and/or a very significant North Stand upgrade

I was there - seems like yesterday. What a night.

And the best thing was that bha heard that they hadn't won the title on a flight somewhere. Take that Mullery you boring egotistical nobody.[/QUOTE]

Kept us in the top flight longer than Vegetables did your lot. :ascarf: And if i remember rightly your mob gave him the managers job a few years later.

Who else was present at one of the matches listed?

I went to the Aldershot game and am fairly certain I went with you!

IIRC we drank in a pub called the Sussex or something similar

TC.

I remember our lot breaking the crossbar after the Aldershot game. Bloody Clifton Arms hooligans.

I was.

My mum took my brother and I to the West Ham v Spurs match in 1970. EVERYONE wore DMs. It was so packed, we couldn't get back on to the terracing for the second half, so we had to go home. I had just turned 13.

The high gate resulted from Greaves and Peters recently switching teams.

I also went to the 11,000 plus Aldershot gate mentioned earlier in this thread. That was my first Albion away game with my mates.

Stadiums like Charlton, Chelsea, Man City, Old Trafford, Sunderland ..... were vast concrete bowls, cheaply done, with one or two stands if you were lucky.
Concrete? I remember the old Valley (with its capacity of 75,000) being the largest collection of wooden railway sleepers I'd ever seen.

We had a few of those at Posh for old times sake a couple of months back. :rave:

Always a good atmosphere in the away end at London Road , especially with a flare to give it a retro feel :D
